Just so you know…

…I've managed to write off my car.

This isn't confirmed (and won't be until Toyota have a look at it tomorrow) but Stu reckons the chassis got damaged in the crash and pretty much everyone who's seen it has said, "Ah. Yeah, it's gone." Yasmine R.I.P…

The real reason for writing this is so I don't have to tell the "What happened?" story over and over again tomorrow, not in a "Don't mention the car!" kind of way as I don't mind talking about it, I just don't want to go into it ad nauseam. Basically I was pulling out of Beaudesert onto Broomfield Rd and didn't see the car coming from the right. Yasmine took the full force of the impact and is now in a pretty sorry state on the corner. The guy I hit (or rather, who hit me, though it was his right of way) didn't seem too irritated – he could've yelled his head off at me, and he didn't, which I'm really glad about – and neither of us were injured. In fact I was rather impressed with the Yaris's safety features, as both front airbags inflated and I only hit my head slightly. Anyway my mum got a train up from London and is here, and both parents are more concerned that I'm safe than angry about the car. It's just a bit of a faff when my first exam's in just over a week, but I reckon I can get it sorted fairly quickly, and I'll talk to the English department about it.

So, suffice it to say, I am a bit shaken up to say the least. But I'm OK, and that's something to be thankful for. Thanks are due to Geoff, for giving me a shoulder to cry on (and a roll of toilet paper) and for generally working really hard to calm me down – it was really helpful to have someone who'd been in that situation, so thank you :) And thanks are also due to Lucy and Stu for making me a really great cup of tea (sugary; just what I needed for the shock) and for picking Mum up from the station.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as I figure out what normal is… It might inspire me to get on with my revision at least, just for something to kepp my mind off it. But, as I say, I'm fine.

And breathe.
