This is the first of a series of books based on Precious Ramotswe who is a lady-detective in Botswana. They are easy to read, funny, entertaining and give a great picture of what life is like on the edge of the Kalahari desert. Great book for sunbathing!

That sounds great! I shall have to track that down and add it to my sunbathing reading schedule which will begin next Sunday!

Dumela Mma! Do you know Botswana? My wife's parents live in Tshekedi Cresent, which is the next road to Zebra Way in Gaborone where Mma Ramotswe lives.

thats very interesting! I spent about 6 weeks in Botswana but only passed through Gabarone briefly. Was mainly in villages near the Namibian border. Enjoyed it though!

Near Ghanzi? Or up north near Etsha and Tsodilo? And what were you up to there?

Well i was working with a christian charity in Southern Africa and spent a couple of weeks in Jwaneng (near Gabarone) then went west as far as Xanagas. You seem to know the country well!

Yes, we go there at least once a year to stay with Emma's parents. I've been on a mine tour in Jwaneng, but never to Xanagas or as far as Ghanzi. Must have been good to do charity work there, the people in the far west are a bit negelected, and with the HIV problem as well.
