Shrek 2

Title:
Rating:
5 out of 5 stars

Caught Shrek 2 at the weekend. I'm not going to write a long review because really you shouldn't be wasting time reading reviews when you should be running, pushing and shoving to the cinema to go and see this NOW

I loved the first Shrek, it was a real breath of fresh air, a beautifully done, hillarious animated movie. Brilliant.

However, Shrek 2 is even better! The visuals are one more generation ahead, the voice cast do a fantastic job, especially Eddie "I'm a stallion baby" Murphy and Jennifer Saunders as the Fairy Godmother.

It really did just keep you laughing pretty much the whole way through. There were so many little details that they didn't have to do, the little things that go on in the background, the things that really prove how much effort they've gone into for this movie.

It's not just in the details though, the dialogue and the acting of the characters was just great. I can't recommend this film highly enough!

  1. I really want to see this. I love the way the first one made fun of fairy tales and the roles they reinforce.

  4. My brother and I decided a trip to the cinema was in order whilst we were away in Cornwall. It was a little old cinema and was showing either kiddie film (Shrek) or a naff mindless shoot out (I forget name). It was decided by a VERY dodgy bloke who had been hovering outside, leering at everyone, coming in and choosing to watch the shoot out one. There was just us and half a dozen small lads watching Shrek. It was definitely the best choice we made! It was great.

If Shrek 2 is better – then it's definitely on a watch list of mine!

  6. Went to see it last night – great film, very funny.

I always liked the fact that in Shrek they had a Leonard Cohen song on the sound track – not bad for a kiddy film. Shrek 2 tops that with both Tom Waits AND Nick Cave – brought a tear to my eye I must say.

Good film references in it too – nice LOTR sequance but also a Blazing Saddles homage – cute.
