Bathroom renovation

Can't believe I'm writing this at gone midnight.

Passing up a Saturday night out, and having done nothing last night because of going out last night, today was the day for starting the bathroom renovation.

Started off with going out this morning to go and pick up our bathroom tiles from Coventry Tiles and Bathrooms. Then, spending a fortune at B&Q and Homebase, we had most of what we needed to get started. It is amazing how many new tools and bits and pieces you need when doing a bathroom.

Just a mini-list is below, but it is not exhaustive.

  • Tiles
  • Tile cutting machine
  • Grout
  • Adhesive
  • Grout shaper
  • Grout spreader
  • Tile file
  • Tile edging
  • Tile spacers
  • Wooden guides
  • Adhesive spreader
  • Sealant
  • Ceramic drill bits
  • The list goes on…

So, Steph and I spent several hours knocking all the old tiles off. Typically on one wall in particular, a hell of a lot of plaster came off with the tiles :(

So, back to Homebase, couple of bags of plaster…I really didn't think I would be plastering the bathroom at 11pm, but hey. Wall now plastered and ready for tiling tomorrow or Monday.

I'll be posting photos of the progress in the bathroom gallery

If anyone else is going to do something like this, or just generally needs to get rid of a load of home junk, I'd recommend the Hippo Bag which is a big skip sized bag which you fill and they just come and take it away, some much easier than ordering a skip.

God I'm tired…time for bed.
