Out of my hands
I realised today that I have a bit of an issue about what to do on Saturday. I have 2 “choices” but the decision is completely out of my hands. I could go to the council training day (which I have to go to if I’m elected but can’t go to if I’m not) or I could go to Leamington.
Leamington sounds much more fun but I really want to be on the council. I find myself, however, on a random Wednesday evening when I really should be working, really nervous about checking my inbox tomorrow morning. Whatever I end up doing on Saturday is completely out of my hands. I don’t think I’ve ever been in such a situation before. Normally I make my own choices about what I want to do.
This is a really annoying situation for me as I always prefer to be the one who calls the shots on my plans. In a slight moment of madness (though one I do not in any way regret) I took the situation out of my hands and gave it to the people. I do not know what I will be doing on Saturday until I have checked my inbox tomorrow morning.
Democracy is evil! I really was not expecting that my plans for this weekend to be completely dependent on the results of the union council elections.
Disclaimer: I do not actually believe that democracy is evil, just taking the plans for my weekend out of my hands is.

I went to Christian Focus
Follow-up to Help! What should I do on Sunday? from Warwick life according to Kerri
After much deliberation, I decided that it would be more in my best interests this week to go to Christian Focus. They provided food (always a good thing) and it was a good night. I’m still getting over freshers’ flu so decided I would not lose my voice again (as I did whilst out canvassing in the Union yesterday afternoon) and therefore did not spend that much time campaigning – though I did manage to slightly change the subject of a conversation (we were talking about exec committees on societies) and tell loads of people I was standing for council. I may have been lucky enough to pick up a couple more votes tonight but only time will tell now – we find out on Thursday.
I am now going to be really annoying and encourage all of you to vote in the council elections that are tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please do not forget. If you are a scientist and want to read my manifesto then either go to the Student Union website and click on the “Elections” tab (near “Ents”, you can’t miss it) or read the entry below in my blog.

Help! What should I do on Sunday?
Rag Quiz or Christian Focus social?
This is really annoying me. I am reliably informed that there will be more people at the Rag Quiz but I am also reliably informed that loads of the people in Christian Focus are in the science faculty. I’m definitely going to one of them but I need to drop it into as many conversations as possible that I’m standing for Union Council (preferably to scientists). Which social should I go to? Answers in the comments section please.
