I have met many difficulties with my essays. I never thought I will meet so many difficulties with writing essays. This is the my first time to write an english essay which have many differences between Chinese essay.

First of all, the problem is the Vocabulary, Vocabulary is still the most difficult when I write an essays. I feel unsure about some words in my essay. I tried to find some equivalence for the words that I have used, but I really do not know whether these words used here correct or not because of my poor Vocabulary.

Second, the problem is how to make a good reference. In China there is great differences about how to make reference. So when I studing here i did not know every point need evidence for english essay. That give me a big problem when I writing a eaasy.

Third, the problem is how to arrange time, I have made a big mistake that  I did not spend enough time on reading. I began to prepare for my essay reading only 1 week before the dead line I hand in. Now I know, reading before writing an essay is so important that I should done good enough before I writing an essay.

Now, I have known most of the skills that how to write an english essay, next time I will do my best.

  1. As the cliché goes, practise will make perfect. It is indeed important to present enough evidence to support any point you make.
I suggest you read whatever you need to read at least twice (preferably more), so that you’ll know more or less where to look for evidence to back up your claims.

You make three good points about your essay experience and I hope that you can see that you are in control of improving every single one.
Firstly vocabulary can be improved by keeping a list of new words and by frequent review of these new words – please also use the wiki as much as possible – look at other people’s words because they may be useful to you too.
Then referencing is simply a case of keeping careful notes and being accurate and clear in your essay (Philippe’s advice is good too!) – the more you do it the easier it gets.
Lastly you now know that you need to start earlier to read enough for your essay – I hope you remember that next time.
