After coming to England to further my education in 2002, I think I will give myself a maximum 5 years working here after graduated. But then the Force-Field Analysis made me some ideas that the reasons against work in England after graduated outweigh the reasons for. Actually, I am quite surprised. I have to ask myself whether working here or going back Hong Kong after studies again.

Maybe I am a girl; it seems that females always have emotional problems than males. I will miss my family while working alone here. I think family support is very important to me. So I weighted for against column very high. In addition, I believe that after finish my course degree, my family cannot support me financially, so I have to earn my living. Then the living costs including accommodation, traffic and daily spending will cost much higher than Hong Kong. I am afraid I am not able to afford them. This is a very realistic problem. Even I have ability to afford all the cost, there will be very few left of my earnings save for my family. Furthermore, UK taxation is very high; it seems that going back to HK is a good decision.

Nevertheless, I think working in England is very tempting to overseas students given that we have spent over 10 thousand pounds per year to study here. I want to get my money back within a few years. England has a very good management system and the welfare service has reputation over the world, at least better than Hong Kong. Because of the brighter future, I would like to stay in a stable place and gain more experience in a worldwide firm. After gaining working experience for several years, I will go back to Hong Kong, at that time, it is highly likely that many famous companies will be interested in me because of my professional skills.

In conclusion, I am not very sure whether to stay here or not. What I realize is that there may not have any England companies interested in me, and then I have to go back to my hometown as I do not get the work permit. Of course, it is the worst condition. I want to have more choices for my future, may be go to America for my Master degree or have one year placement first then continue my studies. Therefore, a good planning is vital while I am studying, provided that I do not have to worry about the financial problem and working pressure.

My mother always says to me that she wants me to be a happy girl whenever how old I am. So when I was very young, I realized that I should be happy and even to make others happy. That's why "Pleasure" is my number one value, to enjoy life, to be happy and content. I do not think that "Pleasure" and "Duty" are against to each other. Everyone has duties whatever they are trivial like taking a shower before sleep or a big duty such as studying and working for living. If I can enjoy to pursuit my duties and treat them as normal things, then they become my pleasure.

For instance, planting flowers is my duty; I have to take care of them. It seems that if I do not give them water, they will die. Gradually I have pressure on doing it because I am afraid they will die and my mother will be sad. However, if I enjoy planting them, I will try to take photos for them, record their growing speed, etc. Then it becomes my pleasure to see flowers growing beautifully. Therefore, it really depends on my attitudes when doing things.

I want to be a business woman after graduated. Someone may think that I should have a strong financial estate before I can start my business. But in my point of view, I should be a trustworthy person to others and be independent and confident. When my friends see me as an enthusiastic person, they will like to join my business given that they have the same goals and values as me. Also, if I can show that I have the ability to do my own business even I do not have enough capital, the bank is highly likely to lend me if I have a business plan and my friends will help me. Therefore, study well in university and make more friends are both important.

My values will be altered according to my age and position, but my ambition will not be changed. I will change other things such as my decision making style and efforts to fulfill my goal. Having a clear objective, I can go towards it step by step.
