Et Finalement: Le Blog

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages that's right the year is over and it has taken up until the very last two days for it to finally feel like it is coming to a close for me.

I have so many people to thank for this year… but that sounds like the start of an Oscar speech.

So anyways a big shout out to everyone who knows me and a mahusive thank you to all those who have played a part in making this year probably the best year of my life – you are all wonderful people.

Keep smiling.
That's all folks.

Finished but still busy??

WAHOO exams are over as of this past Saturday.
Just as an encouragement to everybody to keep going cos it is such an awesome feeling when it is over and it is worthwhile to stick at it during the dull, repetitiveness of revision.
Anywho…
I have just been looking at all the stuff that I am trying to fit in between now and the end of term and my schedule is still looking fairly busy but very exciting too!!!!
It is amazing how busy I always manage to make myself – but to be honest these weeks will be an awesome time to catch up with people and chat and have fun but also on a sad note to say farewell to some amazing people.

Keep smiling everybody.

Long Time No Blogness

Ok can someone please clear up where June magically came from? I was recently looking at my calendar and was thinking "wow where did that come from?"

Since probably the start of this term I have lost all track of days, dates and university weeks. It has been very confusing and I do not care how geeky it is to admit but without Microsoft Outlook I would have missed so many more appointments/exams/lectures/people's birthdays.

Oh also to let you lovely people into some awesome inside knowledge into the world of Vesey. Me and a couple of my current corridor mates are planning (following our completion of our exams) to compete with each other on who can stay awake for the longest period of time. We will each be armed with a wooden spoon and can use it how we want to keep each other awake. Then the second competition will hopefully begin – who can sleep for the longest. I cannot wait although it is probably advised that I do not attempt to drive during either of these competitions or attempt to operate heavy machinery.

So just be aware that if my emotions seem suddenly a heightened version of what they normally are this might be the reason.

And to close with some great words – I wish you all…peace, love and soul.

Church – What is it all about??

Have you recently done alpha? or
Have you started coming to Westwood and are not sure what is really going on? or
Have you started coming to church but it isnt the same as how you remember it or expect it to be because of TV church/christians?

If any of the above applies to you and you still have more questions about church and all that stuff that comes with it sometimes then I hope this will be for you.

There will be a group of people meeting on Tuesdays of Term 3 to just chat about church and hopefully talk through any questions you have.

I will try and provide some sort of snack stuff for the meeting as well. But yeah if you are interested in finding out more please email me at:
J.S.Vesey@warwick.ac.uk
and please leave your mobile number and an example (or 2) of the questions you have currently.

I would also love to hear from you if you want to support this group in anyway; for example in prayer. I would be more than happy to keep people up to date with prayer requests from me for the group.

Hopes for the Future

During the 2nd Reich of Germany there lived a man who became known as Frederick the Great who ruled Germany from Prussia in this, the only second period of German unification.
He had a plethora of talents and things to be jealous of, but my favourite one is as follows:

as a pastime he used to run through his palace throwing his own royal crockery at the midgets (vertically challenged) that he had employed specifically for this purpose and this purpose alone!!

So in an ideal world this is what I would love to have in the future along with my other dream, which is:
to own a monkey butler called Tyrone who travelled everywhere by roller skates!

Lost Message Of Jesus – Steve Chalke & Alan Mann

Title:
Rating:
4 out of 5 stars
It has been interesting to read this book following a lot of media attention concerning the book and the views laid out therein. I found it truly fascinating and enlightening. Chalke gave me a completely new way of looking at passages by going through particular examples and looking with fresh eyes at the message of Jesus.
Thankfully I have the excuse that I am not a scholar and do not have to comment on Penal Substitution but I am just glad for this book because it is the first real time I have even really looked at this issue and thought through the arguments.
I would definitely recommend this book.

First of Many??

Well in true me fashion lets start with randomness. The number of possible ways of playing the first four moves per side in a game of chess is 318,979,564,000. And also February 1865 is the only month in recorded history not to have a full moon.
With all that out the way, lets set the ball rolling and kick off a discussion. Don't be afraid to comment, whether lots or little and remember the more controversial the better!!
If you had to what part of the body would you put in Room 101 and why?
I would put feet in because:
a) they always seem to smell disproportionately to the rest of your body
b) I am yet to find a pair of feet that I find beautiful
c) it is a bit of a stretch just to pick those annoying bits of fluff that accumulate between toes when you're not looking
d) if you have poor circulation (like me) they are always cold

the ball is in your court now

It Lives

Yes that's right children the blog of Vesey is finally beginning to take shape after almost 12 weeks on campus – they always said I had initiative!! (I'm not sure who "they" are though.) Anyways MORSE is still going well into the second term although I am having to adjust to the new timetable and therefore plan in my previous commitments and think about whether I can fit in anything else.
It is definitely good to be back here and settling back into church and cu as well as my corridor. It has been such a weight of my shoulders to now know that our house for next year is almost completely sorted – so thank you to those I will be sharing with. I just hope I won't put you off between now and moving day!!
Well feel free to contact me about this or anything and it would be cool to have some reviews from other people but me.

John
