Jetplane Landing

Jetplane Landing – Once Like a Spark. Simply an awesome album, that helped me survive year one
"and someone asked me:
what are you doing with yourself
and i said writing a book about buenos aires
and they said why when there's a child messiah
that is convinced he feels everyone's pain"

The bit in "I opt out" after he says "Corruption!"

"CALCULATE THE RISK BOY"! (selfish motherfucker (with a perfect aim)) hide so easily!

The drums and opening to Conventional Thought ("I said lets be honest")...(bereft of all metaphore..articles of delicate trust).

Actually, fuck the rest of this, Effect A Change simply too awesome for words. "say…what you want to say!"

"If you change your mind as often as I do" – simply beautiful, both lyrically and sung.

Anyway…moving away from the band. I can think of two beautiful moments I spent alone in the first year. One was when I bought the aforementioned album: jetplane landing – once like a spark

Second was buying The Gossip – Arkansas Heat EP. Listening to it once, going to a lecturer, discussing essays, walking home, and all of that time having "take back the revolution" in my head. Simply not surpassable. "WE'RE TAKING BACK WHAT'S OURS".

But returning to Jetplane:

"WORDS SO DEADLY THEY WILL NEVER MOUNT A COUNTERATTACK"

Integral facts: why do I love everything with Jet in the title? Apart from the band Jet, who sadly suck.

"I choose to write it down".

The Llama Farmers would like to say…

…fuck you

Get the keys and go:

"I want a rooftop full of purple raindrops there is a secret way
He stands in the hallway in striped-up pajamas, it happens all the time
The clock says it's over but she's got the flame now
do you know what is done?

Heard they found you locked inside, summer's dream that winter raped
We shared make-up in the lake, found my way back home
Back home, back home, back home

Your smile is too late insomnia around you never saw the trees
No-one seemed to notice we whispered stuff together asleep on the floor
Well I'm not afraid now, I'm not afraid now lets get the keys and go

Heard they found you locked inside, summer dream that winter raped
We shared make-up in the lake, found my way back home
Back home, back home, back home

Your smile is too late insomnia around you, never saw the trees
No-one seemed to notice we whispered stuff together, asleep on the floor
Well I'm not afraid now, I'm not afraid now
lets get the keys and go
Well I'm not afraid now, I'm not afraid now.
Lets get the keys and go!
gooooooooooooooooooo
gooooooooooooooooooo"

I challenge anyone to find a better song than this.

And on the single verson (of Get the keys…) track 3 of 3

Ice lungs (I think that's what it's called – isn't it a depressing thought that I'm not sure whether "ice lungs" is the title of track 3 of 3 on the single, despite the fact that I love this song so much? Even more depressing is the fact that this will not be relavent to anyone, in fact this will probably never be read by anyone but myself).

I will write the lyrics though, in case anyone but myself feels the same way (unlikely):

"i forget myself
fell asleep again
we are hungry for love
can't you see
i surprise myself
drowning deep again
we are looking for something
much different

yours is not the saddest song
underwater i belong
pinch me if i fall asleep
silver water's much to deep
silver water's much to deep
silver water's

i confuse myself
smile all day
watch bugs crawl around
on my face
we killed ourselves
turned into snow
now we're breathing fast
watch us go

yours is not the saddest song
underwater i belong
pinch me if i fall asleep
silver water's much too deep
silver water's much too deep
silver water's much too deep

yours is not the saddest song
underwater i belong
pinch me if i fall asleep
silver water's much too deep
silver water's much too deep
silver water's much too deep"

I will return to this in the future, because it is simply unacceptable (and a damn shame) than something that seems so much to me be relegated to the end of a list of song lyrics.

I really love both of these songs. Yet one is now obscure, and the other was a b-side that never became known enough to even approach being known. All this while Mr. Brightside becomes a hit amongst a generation of assholes. What would they have liked five years ago? I am prepared to guess that it would have been the five-year-ago equivalent.

BLOG COUNTER etc – nobody read this but I don't care.

steve young was a by far inferior quarterback to joe montana

Writing about web page http://www.betterpropaganda.com

A great site for discovering bands who will rarely or (more likely) never be played on any radio station in the united kingdom. And a massive omg for it (apparently) being all legal downloads, although personally I don't care as I would download my own grandmother whatever the law said.

Some bands and personages I enjoyed:

Madame Chao – this basically sounds like noise, and is consequently very good.

Spukkin Faceship – pretty damn good. Reminds me that my musical confusion is based on the assumption that i should naturally ground myself in guitar-based music. This is incorrect, for 99% of guitar-based bands suck, whilst this is only true for 98% of electronic-based bands. Though remember, Electronic were a post-Smiths guitar band, who sucked.

Black Cat Music – ok this is guitars, but I like it.

Turing Machine – omgwtf they have no singer. But yeah this is good, but I mean, I probably wouldn't buy an album or anything. I do like it though. It is really good.

I would have mentioned more bands but was arrogantly sidetracked, plus couldn't be bothered.

As regards the title – Steve Young is statistically superb, yet in reality was a stupid running-about injury-prone liability, and a Republican Mormon to boot. Joe Montana transcends politics, sport and everything, because he was perfection in armour. With a fucking good throwing arm.
