Well it arrived…

5 out of 5 stars

I've never been one for writing long winded and analytical reviews of stuff, so let me just say this…

I'm so jealous – GH is getting rave reviews. How much/where did you get it?

    Well, actually, we've got two.

I got mine from game.net and it was £50. I'm not sure where Dan got his or how much it cost but I think it was Gameplay. They both turned up yesterday morning (a day before release).

Pretty much played it for 4 1/2 hours last night, and it really really is as good as you think it might be. One thing though. Easy is pretty easy. Medium is sooooo hard, you have to actually learn the in-game riffs to pass some of the song.

Me-thinks some more practise tonight is in order!

  3. Easy is only easy if you are remotely talented. I could only get through one of the songs.
Actually, that's my biggest gripe about the game – getting booed off without finishing the song if you're not good enough. It really makes you feel quite crap about it all.

Lol, does it have a sensor for when you crash to your knees in over-the-top rock fashion?

Having no musical ability whatsoever, this game seriously tempts me. I don't have a tennis racket to pretend on.

  6. I don't know whether my experiences with Stepmania, Pop'n, IIDX and DrumMania helped, but I walked into medium straight away and was clearing songs full bar. Not to rub it in or anything Helen… :P

If ever there was a game to get people playing music games other than Dancing Stage Franchise Mix, this could be the one!

I agree that having good timing will make the game easier. I've seen accomplished guitarists (who timing isn't exactly great) get flamed on I love Rock and Roll on easy, and other non-guitar people breeze through it.

Eventually a certain amount of guitar technique is necessary. I've started learning some of the in-game riffs to make the hard difficulty do-able. Its much easier when you can stare at the fretboard as opposed to the screen.
