Fort Awesome Inspires…

Writing about web page http://www.fortawesome.co.uk

It has just passed the 3-month anniversary of the inception of Fort Awesome and I find myself reflecting on my time here so far. One of the most obvious things is how much fun it has been due to the amount of things I have learnt whilst here. Technically none of these things will help me in the wider world but nonetheless I have learnt them. The great thing about living in a house with people with slightly warped senses of humour is the brilliant TV shows you discover. Whether they be ones that I have never watched but everyone else had, ones that only one person had heard of, or in one case all of us rediscovering, I feel I should give something back by informing you of what we have been inspired by.

This is by no means an exhaustive list and is added to on a daily basis.

Monkey Dust

I was a late arrival at this fantastically dark and cynical show, but it has left its mark.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Straight from [adult swim] on the US Cartoon Network, this show is about a carton of fries, a milkshake, and a meatball who solve mysteries… when they can be arsed, which is never. This show is immense and spawned the discovery of all the other [adult swim] cartoons on the list. If it doesn't sound funny, just watch it. Its fantastically random!

Robot Chicken

Another from the [adult swim] vault, a stop-motion show with dolls created by Seth Green. Full of celebrity cameos in stupidly hilarious sketches this is another winner and really has to be watched to be appreciated.

Sealab 2021

How to explain Sealab? It's crazy. It makes absolutely no sense, amd the episodes never go anywhere. And that makes it hilarious. Overdubbed and reanimated cells from the original Sealab 2020 have been turned into possibly the most random show you will ever see. Amazing!

12 Oz. Mouse

The newest [adult swim] arrival on Tupac, this how makes about as much sense as Sealab. The drawings are crap, the animations are crap. It's about a mouse who's always drunk. Why is it funny? I have no idea. But it is. It really really is. The more we watch the better it gets. Again just watch it. Now.

Quantum Leap

Finally a show with no animation and the best theme song in the world. Ever. This show had everything. Its funny, its emotional, it makes you think, and it had two of the best TV characters ever created. Oh and the best line: "Oh boy!" Everyone remembers this show with a certain fondness, and having re-watched them let me assure you, it isn't nostalgia. It really was that good.

I've probably missed some so this will probably get edited in the next day or so but take my word for it…

Watch these shows!
