My other blog

Writing about web page http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/switch2mac

Not content with poorly and sporadically updating one blog, I’ve started a second one about my experiences switching to a Mac. I’ve always been vaguely conscious that blogs which are about whatever comes into your head to write about are rarely successful in the long term (at least in the sense of having a persistent readership) because the odds of there being a large group of people who are interested in the same random set of things as you, at the same time as they pop into your head, are slim.

Still, I enjoy writing about random stuff, so I’ll carry on doing that here, whilst seeing whether the constraint of a particular, fairly narrowly focussed subject also turns out to be fun.

  1. I wouldn’t exactly say my blog was successful in the short term or the long term; my notoriety and “status” has been gained largely through commenting on other people’s entries rather than having other people comment on my own.

With the exception of word associations, of course.

  2. Hi John, I would be very interested in having another blog but under a different name! As you work for I.T. services do you think that this would be possible? Please email me at Thomas.Prosser05@phd.wbs.ac.uk to let me know!

Thomas, you should email blogs@warwick.ac.uk to discuss this.
