Hitchhiker's trailer

Writing about web page http://www.amazon.com/

The official trailer for the Hitchhiker's Guide movie has now been released – on the home page of Amazon, funnily enough. It looks absolutely spot on; the characters, the styling of the effects, the Guide itself – and especially Marvin, who cracks me up in the trailer despite not saying a word. And although I don't remember the spades gag that pops up at the end of the trailer from the books, it's absolutely in the spirit of Douglas Adams it seems to me.

Not sure how Zaphod's second head truned into a third arm, though…

He's always had a third arm, I seem to remember. Didn't he have it added to improve his ski-boxing? But the original TV series decided that this was one effect too many for their limited resources, and, er, cut it out.

You're right, of course, I was remembering the TV series and not the book or radio series. He definitely always had two heads, though.

  4. In the trailer he has three arms and two heads, what's the problem?

I thought he had a full set of heads and arms in the TV series – they had a third arm stitched onto his jacket, a la Napoleon.

    Looking forward to this anyway.

Er, am I cracking up? I'm sure when I watched it there was only one head! And it has now gone from the amazon.com website so I can't check. Apologies for any confusion caused. If anybody finds a copy of it elsewhere, let me know so that I can confirm my lack of sanity…
