Google Blog search

Writing about web page http://blogsearch.google.com/

Google now have a search service specifically for blogs. Hooray. But it doesn't see Warwick Blogs. Boo. The FAQs say:-

The goal of Blog Search is to include every blog that publishes a site feed (either RSS or Atom). It is not restricted to Blogger blogs, or blogs from any other service. If your blog publishes a site feed in any format and automatically pings an updating service (such as Weblogs.com), we should be able to find and list it. Also, we will soon be providing a form that you can use to manually add your blog to our index, in case we haven't picked it up automatically.

Interestingly, they've introduced some new search restriction operators for blog searching:-

  • inblogtitle:
  • inposttitle:
  • inpostauthor:
  • blogurl:

Not quite true that it doesn't see warwick blogs. It sees one Wblogger: Iyobosa Adeghe. Whether that's because he's the only one producing worthwhile content, or because he's alphabetically first in the list, I'm not sure
