Pinkerton on Narnia

Writing about web page http://www.jaypinkerton.com/blog/archives/001437.html

Jay Pinkerton watched the Chronicles of Narnia DVD and really didn't like it. I thought it had the odd problem myself, but Jay was much more scathing:

Narnia, meanwhile, has a talking rhino run through the middle of a battlefield skewering centaurs and bears, and Iím sitting there wondering if thatís a good thing or a bad thing. Hooray! The brave rhino killed the evil centaurs! Or… boo! The dastardly rhino killed the noble centaurs! Or… something.
In one scene a pair of badgers have a conversation with Santa Claus, and in another a human on a talking horse does battle with the White Witch of the North while griffins divebomb centaurs, and your headís just spinning from the random senselessness of it.

Paul Graham on what drives bloggers

Spot on:-

I think what most bloggers are doing is thinking out loud. It's a little misleading to talk of "putting things into words", because that implies that the ideas come first. In fact, expressing thoughts creates them. And especially expressing thoughts to other people, even people you don't know. So I think the reason many people like blogging is that they like the thinking it causes.

The line used to be "How do I know what I think till I hear what I say?", but perhaps in our SMS, IM, email and blog-enabled world, it's becoming "How do I know what I think until I read what I type?".

I don't always agree with Paul Graham's ideas, but his writing is brilliant. He has this blog as well as a collection of essays which are all thought-provoking, even when they're wrong.
