Go for Joe!

This morning I launched my campaign to become President of the Warwick Student Union.  This will be my campaign blog where you can read about me, my policies and my plans for the Union.  I want to encourage people to get involved, and I will make every effort to reply to any comments people leave here.

  9. I couldn’t care less who wins, but since you have better hair than the other candidates, I’ll probably vote for you. I hope you’re proud.

  10. I didn’t even know you had such big plans!!

  11. But…your name is Jonathan?!

  12. This is probably the best Warwick Blogs entry ever, Joe.
But I can’t lend my support.
You have stupid hair and you were “Forum Events Manager for One [gay] Week”.
And I believe very strongly that gays should be precluded from public office.
    Sorry. I know you’ll understand.

  13. Nice to see you are, as ever, focussing on the big issues, Vincent! Interestingly, your verdict on Joe’s hair is apparently shared by Desmond Tutu. If that isn’t an endorsement, what is?

  14. I’ll vote for you, simply because you appear to have actual manifesto pledges, rather than gimics and vague hand-wavey rubbish. Well done.

You seem to say that you have a lot of big plans for the Union, but are any of these actually obtainable? There is nothing to suggest that you have done any research into the feasibility of any of your policies. I thought this would be cleared up at Hustings but, again, you presented no information and, indeed, you initially outlined your manifesto by saying just five words. Peace, Love and Soul.

Why is having food delivered to campus a good thing?

Tesco is close enough to walk to, and so this is a policy that encourages unnecessary pollution.

  17. Have you already held a union position? I assumed (after Kat Stark) that the President usually moved from another position into the presidency the year after. Anyway, even if not I’ll still probably vote for you as you’re the best candidate on paper (the paper I’ve read, anyway).

  18. Have to say I agree with comment 16. In these days of concern for the environment, free food delivery to campus is simply going to add to pollution and traffic problems. Not sure exactly what the point of it is.
