Wow

This little lot just fell from the sky, as many of you have probably already noticed…

Hail

Impressive stuff…I'm loving the weather today, I woke up to a very entertaining thunderstorm this morning, then the sun came out whilst I went food shopping, and now the extreme hail to keep me entertained whilst I wait for the next World Cup game :D. However the people walking past my window just now did not share my enthusiasm ;)

  1. Our entire office was standing by the windows just watching in awe. Amazing stuff.

What kind of scale is that photo, how big would you say those actually were close up? 1cm across?

  3. I was in westwood sports hall having an exam. And we all thought we were going to die!? Well a drop of water fell on to my calculator.

  4. Yeah, the bigger ones were almost a centimetre across. I can imagine how bad it was in Westwood…it was annoying enough when it was only raining lightly :s

  5. I liked the storm waking me up this morning. It was very gradual and much more effective than a stupid clock alarm! It was also bang on time 8.30am!

John—I’m a meteorologist and currently writing a book about EXTREME WEATHER. Your hail picture is great. I’d like to communicate about possibly using it.

    Thanks!
