Starting out studying again
Well I have officially signed up for a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Leadership and Management paid for by my employer Melton Borough Council :)
I'm pleased I was encouraged to apply. It was all a bit awkward though as an invite went out to all 198 staff for people to apply. I encouraged one of my team to go for it as it looked great, but when it was obvious he wasn't interested I asked my manager if I was suitable. He supported me, although there was one other person interested. We had mini interviews and I was selected. I felt a bit bad as I have a post graduate diploma already (in project management) and an MBA (in construction and real estate) but this is something different. I haven't studied for 10 years so I hope my brain still works :/
Anyway, I got in and now it's time to try and get the kids to go to bed a bit earlier than usual so I can start reading all the stuff they sent me.
Quite amusing that we are doing public sector leadership, when the top public sector leadership is looking somewhat confused at the moment! Maybe a good time to consider it then...
