Are Sam and Frodo gay?

See, my flatmate and I have just watched The Return of the King, which, by the way, is about an hour too long, and she thinks they most definitely are. But if I believe her, I can never watch Lord of the Rings again in the same light!

Back me up here, they're not, right…?
