In recognition of Marianne Williamson – Return to Love

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

This is a great and potentially powerful quote. It has been brought to my attention that she is wirting about a man who originally made the quote. Does anyone know how much truth there is to this, and if it is true who did say it?

Well I dont know how much truth there is about who orginally made the quote, but I must say its a beautiful one. When I first heard the speech on the movie Akeelah and the Bee it really spoke to me. When Dr. Larabee asked her what does it mean and she said it means not to be afraid…of me. that said something to me.. its true, we should not be afraid of ourselves, we are to caught up in what people think of us and not what we think of ourselves.. so I really dont care who orginally wrote it, but whomever did, brilliant!
