New Camera!

Well, just over a month ago I got myself a new toy! A Canon Powershot S2 IS!
I've been playing with it quite a bit recently and trying out some effects along with my friend Dave (who also has a new camera!) and Will with some random photography. Some of my photos will appear on the blog soon, but a load will also hopefully appear in the WSAF Photographic Exibition in Xanana Lounge and The Cooler!
I cant be bothered reviewing this camera, the link above has more than enough of a hardcore review! My comments though… ITS GREAT!

Looks nice. I'm after a new one, as the old fecker is nearly 2 and a half years now.
You recommend a large zoomy lens type fella?

zooms are great, but for cameras which dont have zoom lenses, they are hard and sometimes expensive to give them zoom. Obviously, the more OPTICAL zoom, the better since digital will just blow up the pixels and make it look fuzzy. www.dpreview.com has loads of really in depth reviews, they are really hardcore though! I shall soon be posting some of the photo's I've taken and I'll try and include some kind of comparison of zoom this one can do (12x optical)

I meant rather than the thin point and click types.
The one you have there looks more like an SLR than the other buggers. And as you say, it has a 12x optical zoom which is, in my opinion, immeeeeennnnse.
