American petrol prices

Sorry, gas prices. Do you think they know it's actually liquid. Never mind.
Anyway, yeah, the Americans are complaining that $2.35 per gallon is too high. That's the equivalent to about 28p per litre. How do we put up our extremely high petrol prices? The current average is 85.6p per litre, a record high. And it seems they will go up a further 2p if Labour return for a third term. It's ridiculous.

[Skip to the latest comment]We drive nowhere near as far though, Americans consider the birmingham and london as being in the same neighbourhood.

Granted. But a third the price of ours. A third. That's a lot of dough.

Yep, it's stupid. Petrol in this country is cheap – when tax is not included.
How am I supposed to get about when petrol is 85p a litre and a one-day travelcard is £5.20? (Rhetorical question.)

You have to rememebr too that American cars do rather closer to 10mpg than the 30–50 ours do, so they get through plenty more fuel too. To be fair even at 89p a litre it only contributes 8p out of 43p a mile to run my car, which isn't too terrible really. Scary that I can remember diesel being 43p a litre though.

Hi from the land down under, this is great to be able to compare petrol prices with the UK and USA, at the moment we are paying about 48p a litre for our petrol, but I drive 159 KM to my closest good size shopping centre so I think I would on an average be spending more of my income on petrol and you guys, but of course your average wage is alot higher than ours, so I presume that would really influence your cost of living including your petrol, but boy aren't those yanks lucky their petrol is nearly half of ours. Keep up this great site its great when you have an overseas trip on the drawing board for next year

Americans need to wise up , they dont care about the environment, so they make . 7 litre cars.. to take them to the nearest town … , cruise at 50 mph while guzzling petrol like maniacs. GREEDY ASSHOLES!, my car does about 35 mpg , i livei n the uk, and £10 petrol really doesnt get me very far.. its rediculous.

I live in Australia and petrol prices almost got to $1.50 the other day which is rediculous. I drive a large car (Mercedes) that goes through petrol quite alot. I know you might be thinking – you have a mercedes, petrol prices shouldn't worry you – but soon the petrol will cost more than the car! Its outrages especially since the taxes on petrol are so high. Lets hope next weeks budget does something good for us all specially with the interest rate rise as well.
