Exclusive: Bush and Kerry love the Ibsen
If anyone like me was stupid enough to stay up through the US Election they would have seen an American Political Commentator with a rubbish haircut say on BBC television that the Presidential Race was "unfolding like one of Ibsen's well-made plays" (well, it was interesting to me at half two in the morning)
Now, I'm not so sure if this 'expert' had actually grasped the nuances of Ibsen's dramatic objectives in subverting the well-made play, or indeed if he had even the most basic of knowledge about Victorien Sardou and his fabulous writings!....
However….his idea made me think of all the fun times we have had studying modernism with Geraldine Cousins…
...And anything that makes me think of Gerry late at night while Im in bed can only be a good thing!
She loves the cock
Yeah, I saw that, it was ridiculous. The same guy made a number of other truly ludicrous analogies, most of which I have forgotten because I am trying to excise all memories of the night from my mind.
It's a bit like Mel Phillips in the Daily Mail – she can't write an article without mentioning that the society we live in is a Kafkaesque nightmare, or like a scene from a painting by Hieronymus Bosch.

haha
at least he wasnt the worst 'election expert' – what about the ITV laptop fella who said "at twenty-to-two, let me be the first to tell you that John Kerry is the next President of the USA"

Well, I wasn't awake at 2:30am & I'm sure I wouldn't realise the Ibsen 'joke' however, I am highly impressed that you both did. Bravo. I felt very bad for Kerry though however that was until Greenday took the piss outta him on MTV2, it was ledengary.
