Plate Match 1 – 21st February 2005: Jack Flash v Allow!

Jack Flash beaten by Allow! (with some help from snow)

Today's starting line up included regulars John, Piers, Mark and Ed, along with Rob and on-loan player Freddy from Inter Yamam. The game kicked off on a sunny but cold Tarkett Sommer pitch with Mark immediately exhibiting some pace to terrorise the Allow! defenders. In a very open first half with both teams hitting each other on the break, goalkeeper John, drafted in after impressive pre-match shot practice and Allow! goalkeeper Godfrey (who played for Jack Flash against Inter Yamam) were put to the test, and stood up well. A quick break from Allow! saw the only goal before the interval. Jack Flash had several chances to equalise, Piers coming close after finding himself one-on-one with the opposition keeper, only to be thwarted by a very decent save and Mark flashing a long range shot just wide. After the interval Allow! brought in Chris, who had played well for Jack Flash against Inter Yamam. The introduction of Chris saw Allow! scoring a second goal, Chris finished well after a good run. Soon after Allow! had made it 2–0 an almighty snowstorm came over the pitch, with the Jack Flash end in darkness and the goalposts swinging over in the wind. During the snow, Mark managed to finish well under the conditions from far out, possibly past a hampered keeper. Once the snowstorm had abated, the pitch became slippery and almost unplayable, Jack Flash were left wishing they'd scored before snow ruined their chance of an equaliser.
