Great wo(men) leaders…?
When someone thinks about a great leader, usually a man comes in mind. And I think that this applies to both sexes. Althought we live in the 21st century and women have great career opportunities, still men have primacy. This is quite weird, because women have major leading roles in organisation with influence and power! Yet, when it comes to name a great leader, most times would be a men.
Is it because people trust more male leaders or because female leaders act differently? Many leadership studies have been conducted about women leadership and there are sectors that women outweight men. The other day I came across an article which suggested that women leaders tend to be more transformational than male ones. But still, it seems that although the efforts that women put on acting as leaders, they have to prove themselves over and over again.
Maybe we are still belive that this is a man's world...

It is true that majority of leaders exist in the history are men. But I tend to think that it’s because back in the days, women had such small influence (they could not even lead in their homes). But this century, the world has changed. Women become more influential and effective in the organisations. They are trusted as effective leaders. I believe that in the next few decades, there will be many women leaders exist in the history :)

Indeed women are still experiencing difficulty breaking the glass ceiling and climbing the corporate ladder or as you said being accepted and given first priority but no one is to blame.Maybe I am saying this because I tend to be a little feminist sometimes, but I believe that the world is not happening to us, we are active creators and sharpers of our reality. If we do not like this sad reality that when someone is asked to name a leader then they name a male leader, we should perhaps discourage this kind of mentality. Personally when I am asked to name a leader who inspires me (other than Richard Branson for personal reasons, haha) then my list is filled with a number of women;Michelle Obama, Jessica Alba, Lisa Leslie etc etc. If we want to see change,it has to begin with us. Power to the women!!! :)
