I now have a whole different perspective on the name of this house just around the corner from me (well, two corners to be exact) ever since I started uni….

A1GP Manchester Demonstration

I took a trip into Manchester with my Dad this afternoon to see the A1GP series (a kind of rival series to Formula 1) do their demonstation parade around Manchester City Centre. Despie being an avid follower of Formula 1, I've never seen (or heard!) any of these cars in 'real–life' before, and especially not stood 5 feet away from them!

Anyway, 6 counties (they have countries instead of manufacturers) displayed their cars around the street circuit. We were positioned on one of the slower parts of the circuit, at St. Mary's Gate, outside M&S, but some cars were still nailing it past! The highlight was the Irish car which did a practice start right next to us! These are the photos I took on my phone:

Lebanese A1GP Car

Australian A1GP Car
The Australian car (which you could probably have guessed from its sponsorship!)

And, as an added bonus, I also did a video of three of the cars passing, which can be found here.

All in all, it was pretty ace!

Superman Cheap Day Returns

Continuing on a transport theme from my previous post, during my change at Manchester Piccadilly on my way back from Sheffield this afternoon, I couldn't help but be drawn towards a rather unusually liveried Virgin Pendolino waiting to depart on the 1405 to London Euston:
Superman Pendolino

At the very front, it doesn't look immediately different from an ordinary member of the class, but, continuing down the platform….

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No, it

No, it's a 125mph tilting train!

Superman Pendolino

In full Superman Returns promotional vinyls! Was a very interesting change from the usual procession of trains!

Superman Pendolino

But it admits it isn't as fast as a speeding bullet….. Never mind!

Anyway, I walked further down to see the name of the fleet member that had been chosen. I thought the most likely would be Virgin Hero, or maybe Virgin Lionheart or Virgin Warrior. Which one was it?

Chavs 'Sleeping' on Trains

Right, maybe its just me, but has anyone else noticed that, at the slightest hint of any tiredness on any form of Public Transport, Chavs always rest their heads in this exact position? (That's me by the way, doing a demonstration, not a chav).

Chavs Slepping on Trains

It's something I've been noticing for a while, but when I was on a train earlier today, two of the species got on, sat opposite each other, and within minutes were both obviously so knackered that they needed to go to sleep, which, being a Mathematician I found interesting, as they were in almost exact symmetry with one another!

I don't think that they're actually able to sleep in any other position besides this one – if you do see one doing something different, let me know! Good old Chavs, who need to copy each other to the extent that they sleep in the same position as each other…..

Oh, one more things thats intriguing me at the moment – what's with this other Chav fad of walking round with your phone in your hand (or even worse, round your neck) playing out loud (minus headphones) the latest faddy, crap dance/R 'n' B song at a volume loud enough for the entire street/shop/bus/train/town to hear? It's never any good music either! I assume it's just all a part of this Chav culture of showing you like all the same stuff as all of your friends, regardless of whether it's actually any good…

Anyway, that's enough over–use of the word 'Chav' for one blog entry!

Feeder Gig Update – The Correct Track Order

Follow-up to Feeder Gig from Ian Henderson's Warwick Blogs Adventure

Thanks to a guy called Mike for contacting me and highlighting this page on, which contains the correct order as follows (and I realsed I missed out Pilgrim Soul too, what kind of Feeder fan am I?!):

Feeling A Moment
Come Back Around
We Can't Rewind
Just The Way I'm Feeling
Buck Rogers
Pushing The Senses
Pilgrim Soul
Tumble And Fall
Lost And Found
Seven Days In The Sun
Just A Day

Hope that's cleared everything up!

Feeder Gig

The Feeder gig at the N.E.C. finally came around last night, and boy was it a cracker! They were utterly fantastic, right from opening with Feeling A Moment to closing with Just A Day. The full list of the songs they played is as follows (not in this order):

Feeling A Moment
Come Back Around
Just The Way I'm Feeling
Buck Rogers
We Can't Rewind
Lost & Found
Tumble and Fall
Pushing The Senses
Seven Days In The Sun
Just A Day

A pretty good mix, although there were a couple that I would have liked to have been played, like Comfort in Sound or Forget About Tomorrow, but never mind. Just hearing Buck Rogers live was about 10 times as good as I'd ever previously imagined, as it's such a simple, but awesome song, and is the very reason I like Feeder in the first place. Plus there was their brilliant new single Lost and Found, which was recorded last night and will become a live track available for download from Feeder's Website , which I'll definately be getting. And playing Just A Day was probably the best possible way of rounding off the night (apart, of course, from another dose of Buck Rogers...). Anyway, I took some pictures last night, which you can find here . The photos are slightly poor quality as I forgot my camera has a night time mode. Silly me!

To cut a long story short, I'm so going to go and see them next time they tour!!!

Now Uncensored!

Follow-up to Afternoon in the Workroom from Ian Henderson's Warwick Blogs Adventure

Aha, now that our Linear Algebra assignment has been handed in, I can now safely uncensor the photo of my proof in the workroom.

And I do accept (if you can read it!) that it may not entirely be correct, but, well, meh…..

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

Wow, look how much its currently snowing outside! Maybe all hope is not lost for the very cold, snowy winter that we were supposed to have, but seem to have missed out on so far!

Snow #1

Snow #2
I just hope it'll still be snowing when I'm on my way to maths by computer at 5. However, I have no excuse for not turning up due to bad weather, seeing as I'm 3 mins walk from it!
