How Democracy Works

I remember seeing this short animated film on a rental video once, I think it's quite good!

Leeds Festival

I've just had an awesome Saturday at the Leeds festival, and now that all my videos and photos are uploaded, I'll tell you all about it….

Well, when we got there, and after a little exploration we went to watch the Long Blondes in the NME/Radio 1 tent, who were OK. Then went over to the Comedy tent to see Andrew Bird, Jon Richardson and the simply excellent Lloyd Langford. Then we went to catch The Subways' set on the main stage, which I liked quite alot, despite never having heard them before.

The rest of the day was spent at or near the main stage. Fall Out Boy were OK, I suddenly became a fan of Belle & Sebastian, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were OK, then came the big guns (the two I'd actually paid to see more than any of the others).

The Kaiser Chiefs were simply incredible (and we got the additional surprise of them being introduced by Peter Kay. This is a clip of the opening to 'Na Na Na Na Naa':

Then came Franz Ferdinand who were awesome (although in my opinion, the KCs just tipped them for first place in the excellence stakes), and I managed to get a full video of 'Do You Want To':

All in all, a pretty good day! Then came getting home, which was surprisingly painless, but getting back into Bolton at 4am on Sunday morning (including a bus–load of drunk people from Manchester!)

All the pictures from it are here.

A1GP Manchester Demonstration

I took a trip into Manchester with my Dad this afternoon to see the A1GP series (a kind of rival series to Formula 1) do their demonstation parade around Manchester City Centre. Despie being an avid follower of Formula 1, I've never seen (or heard!) any of these cars in 'real–life' before, and especially not stood 5 feet away from them!

Anyway, 6 counties (they have countries instead of manufacturers) displayed their cars around the street circuit. We were positioned on one of the slower parts of the circuit, at St. Mary's Gate, outside M&S, but some cars were still nailing it past! The highlight was the Irish car which did a practice start right next to us! These are the photos I took on my phone:

British A1GP car

The British Car

Chinese A1GP Car
The Chinese Car

Lebanese A1GP Car
The Lebanese car

Australian A1GP Car
The Australian car (which you could probably have guessed from its sponsorship!)

And, as an added bonus, I also did a video of three of the cars passing, which can be found here.

All in all, it was pretty ace!

Attack of the Jellymonsters!

I had this really terrifying dream the other night. I arrived in some city to find that a load of rampging circular blobs of jelly with angry–looking eyes were on the loose, and eating people. They were lead by a load of jelly snakes (you're starting to see the theme here I guess). After a bit, one blue blob of jelly started to chase me. I continued to run until a person shouted at me 'You need to ask it not to eat you!' At that point I turned around to face it, and begged, tearfully, 'Please don't eat me, I don't want to die', at which point, the blob of jelly said, 'Alright, I'll let you off then', and left me alone.

Then I woke up in a cold sweat. It was really scary!

(Note: I have very messed up dreams sometimes)
