Advent Calendars at the ready!
Doesn’t time fly when you’re studying Maths? I can’t believe that we’ve only got a week and a day left of this term, then it’ll be the Christmas holidays, which, coincidentally, are lined up to be work-wise the worst Christmas holidays ever. What with a draft of my Second Year Essay to do, an assignment for Modelling Nature’s Nonlinearity and revision for my Math Stats A exam in the first week back in January, I’ve got plenty of Uni work to do. And if that wasn’t enough, I’ve got 1-2 weeks of Tesco as well! Can’t wait…
I’m really dreading the whole essay business. I haven’t had to do any extended piece of writing since, well, my A-Levels, so I fear I may just have forgotten how to do it. And I’m also worrying that I’m just going to be sat there without a clue where to start desperately trying to avoid the temptation to just copy everything out of a book. At least I’ve got as far as the (provisional) title which is (hold onto your hats):
Single Server Queueing Systems
That is, of course, subject to my tutor’s blessing, when he gets back to me. Hopefully it’ll be OK, as I find it very hard to find any areas of Maths which I can be motivated to write about, and Queueing Theory was just something that jumped out at me in the library (not literally, of course).
I’ve got a really exciting Saturday coming up this weekend. Firstly, during the daytime, it’s the Warley National Model Railway exhibition in the NEC in Birmingham, this year featuring (I read somewhere) a whopping 75 layouts! If you were me, you’d be wetting yourself with excitement. OK, it’s not that exciting, I suppose. Then later on it’s off for a meal at Nando’s with my housemates, followed by Mitchell & Webb in the Arts Centre. I hope they’re as good as they are in Peep Show and That Mitchell & Webb Look, and I can’t wait to see Numberwang live!
Probably going an above average Saturday, at least!
Anyway, just filling y’all in on my current to-ings and fro-ings.
