On Munich 1972…

Focus always seems to be on the murdered athletes… We never hear of the 200 Palestinian civilians murdered afterwards. It would be nice if some media attention also directed a little attention to the indiscriminate bombing of refugee camps in in response to what is often depicted as the greatest crime against humanity committed in the 1970s – the murder of 11 athletes.

It's even more of a shame that we never hear about the German policeman killed, or the fact that 2 of the surviving terrorists were released when a jet was hijacked. A despicable act, and in absolutely no way worthy of being retrospectively belittled. It was a terrorist act which succeeded in terrifying the world, simply throwing statistics at it isn't valid in my opinion.

  2. Hey I'm not belittling anything. Murder is murder and I deliberately picked my words. If anything has been and is continuing to be belittled, it was the murder of over 200 Palestinian civilians in refugee camps, who were completely unrelated to the attack. Terror from the air, terror within the olympic village – no difference save in extent in my opinion. It does not mean that the murder of the athletes was not horrific or murder.
