Scousers Go Mental!

Brother (by text message) "Boom"
So Mourinho has his millions and Ferguson has his wonderkinds and Wenger has his Henry… and who wins to bloody European Cup? Djimi Traore. Jerzey Dudek. My dad's mate Paul Vladimir Smicer.
Mum's gone mental, I couldn't get a single coherent word out of her beyond the phrase "oh my god" on repeat. She's been supporting Liverpool for about 50 years now. I guess you never know in this game. And though we won nothing it gives me that stupid irrational hope again. It also made me realise that I really will support the English team no matter who they are provided they aren't Arsenal. It wasn't as good as six years ago, but it was good.
There'll be Scousers everywhere tonight. Millions of them. For now Dudek is my new hero. I really never thought I'd ever say that. Carragher was man of the match for me but Gerrard and Hamann and Vladimir Smicer, even if he does look like my dad's mate Paul, were amazing.
God, I'd hate to be an Evertonian tonight. Or Michael Owen.

[Skip to the latest comment]To be fair, if Milan had won I'd be wondering how Jon Dahl Tomasson had managed to win the CL. He was total rubbish at Newcastle, almost as bad as Temuri Ketsbaia – remember him?

I have no recollection of Ketsbaia ever playing but I do remember ragging someone about how rubbish he was despite the cool name. But then again in the "rubbish in England, now inexplicably good" debate I'd give Deigo Forlan an honourable mention, if only because he could only score against Liverpool when he was with Man Utd. Funny old world.

I agree with you, Liverpool played well on the night. It was an exceptional comeback. I was in The Bar with a bunch of L'pool fans. Some of my best mates are L'pool fans. I bought them all drinks after the game. I shook the hand of every L'pool fan in the bar(s) that I met. To win the European Cup is an amazing achievement and any team that can do that deserves respect.
But I'm a MANCHESTER UNITED fan (as you are) and next season will be a different picture:
Give the Scousers their moment of glory…. It won't last. And in the Premiership (when they're not playing injury-riden teams) the comments below are SOOOOOOO true….
(one of your earlier comments was very apt.)
Who put the ball in the Scousers' net
Who put the ball in the Scousers' net

Diego, Diego FORLAN!

Ketsbaia wasn't that bad…. or maybe i'm just feeling sorry for a guy that has such a stupid name and is also bald. Some people just don't have any luck!
But while watching those final penalties did anyone else think that Dudek looked somewhat like Derren Brown. Similar in facial features and good at mind games, must have been seperated at birth!

Incredible come back last night. I didn't give Liverpool much chance at the start never mind h/t. Looking forward to the mighty Hibees taking them on in the group stages of the UEFA Cup now.
One of my brothers' mates is the spit of Dudek. He even used to have the goatee. How incredibly interesting!

Liverpooooooooooooooool!!!

I noticed the Derren Brown lookielikyness too. And I was slightly confused by the random breakdancing (as one Italian newspaper apparently called it) but it seemed to work.
Liverpool really ought to be allowed to defend their title. The problem is that there isn't anyone you can easily throw out to let them in. My feeling is that if it wasn't Everton in the 4th English spot then Liverpool would get in at the expense of whoever was there, but if the FA chuck Everton out there'll be riots on the streets of Merseyside.

You don't need to throw Everton out of their cup position to let Liverpool in to cause riots on the streets of Liverpool, you just need to walk down the street!
