How do you measure a year? Thoughts of a final year Biologist…

‘Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,
Five hundred twenty six thousand moments so dear
How do you measure a year?’

‘In daylights ( spent dozing in lectures?)
In sunsets ( watched on the way home from Gibbet Hill?)
In midnights (spent in the learning grid finishing an essay?)
In cups of coffee (to keep you awake as you finish those assignments?)
In inches?
In miles? ( surely by now i’ve accumulated miles walking daily to Gibbet Hill?)
In laughter?
In truths learned?(about life or the development of a vertebrate limb?)
In times you’ve cried?
In bridges you’ve burned or built?
How do you measure the life of a woman or man?
How about remembering a year in the life of friends. How about measuring your year in love…...’

I don’t know but funnily enough it is usually the moments you shared love, experienced love or lost love that end up standing out in a particular year…..................
