Photo 15 – English seaside

A beach near the New Forest when I went camping there. I like the english-ness of it! And the pretty colours on the changing huts!

The depth of field here is amazing. The eye's drawn to the right first of all by the contrast of the coloured doors against the white background. Then as you explore the image more you feel this huge sense of distance, first with the hotel/house in the mid-distance, and then again with the coast on the horizon. Breathtaking!

  2. Nice shot. I have a suggestion, though:

I cropped off some of the beach, and increased the contrast and saturation a little.

There's also a good possibility for a panoramic crop:

  3. I reckon you've cropped the beach far too high in the second one, Max! Could probably do with a shade off the top though.

A very English scene Gemma, like you say. That water doesn't look too warm…

I've just posted a beach photo too – hopefully I'll be putting some photos up on a semi-regular basis. I look forward to some critical comments from one or more of you!

  4. OOhs, pretty photo! The beach hut colours are great, perfect for photographing! The lone people give it a sense of scale, which is great too.
The seagulls, the pebbly beach, the crashing waves! I can almost taste the salty sea breeze!!! =)
Great photos always conjure emotion, and this doing it for me! =)
