LG 12 – 18:00

The LG has been quiet again today. Ive done about 5 or so questionnaires for visiting students. ive had a few gate issues, as people are trying to get in with a now old card. I had to spend some time with a girl who needed help with the computer and photocopier. One guy told me he had just lost his phone in the L.G, saying he left it on a seat 10 minutes before and now it was gone. Naturally alarmed to the idea of theft, esp’ given the small number of people, I asked him to show me where he left it exactly. Turns out it was in Uni’ House Annex and not in the L.G, he found it. Reshelved some boks, not too many today but I can spot a few students with some rather large stacks of them so i’m preparing for tomorrow!

BMG 0800–1845

Quieter day today… Had some Panaboard + printing queries and a few tours to do… lovely tour guide asking me to ‘do my spiel’... haha. That’s about it… Thought about doing a new powerpoint presentation… definitely am tired of seeing it! will be working on that in summer. Had a steady number of people in here, busy working.

LG 10 – 18:00

The Learning grid has been quiet, however, I have been interacting with japanese students all day. At first I gave a tour to about 20, showing them the learning grid and all we have to offer. Then a different group came to do presentations so I gave them presentation feedback. After that, one of the groups came and asked me for further presentation helped and I helped the out pretty much until Kelly came. Over than that, issues have been small, mostly about printing, one about the photocopier and one about the scanner. One lady, however, did ask me if I could fix her phone since it was forwarding all calls. Despite this not being our standard service, I gave it my best shot…And failed. Researched it and sent her on her way and finding out that it was a network error.

BMG 8 – 18:45

Initially the BMG seemed like it was going to be quite busy with quite a few people coming in early on. By about 8:30 there was at least 10 – 12 people and most weren’t from groups. However, the numbers began to fade out and from about 4pm onwards there’s only been 1-2 users. Enquiry wise there’s been very little, a few questions regarding printing and two technical enquiries about the MS Word. I’ve re-shelved the books and checked the printer. Other than that, not much else to report.

LG 3:45 – 21:00

The LG has been really busy, espescially for a Sunday evening. It’s literally packed. Issues haven’t been too often though. Grid 3 keeps jamming in the duplex but this is pretty easy to resolve. I’ve had to give out several whiteboard markers and theres been a few gate issues (usually resolved by just asking them to wait). When I went into the store cupboard at around 4:45-5, I noticed that the bottle for the watermachine had already been full and flooded, so already had to empty that by then. By now, it was already about 25% full but have emptied it. Book usage has been crazy, i’ve been reshelving them throughout the shift but they seem to be getting back onto the trollies very-very quickly.

Otherwise, all has been fine.

LG 10–2

Today has gone exceptionally fast, had printer jams, gave back some lost property, had lots of gate issues, and much much more. Also room C is now open for business!

Also Becky handed in a key to security, which has a keyring of a hand on it.

LG Thursday night

Several people trying to get in with hot food. Warwick students are munchers! Probably a sign of the cold and looming stress. Fear not, all were turned away at the gates and they nicely complied.

The photocopier on the ground floor can be dodgy at times, a few paper jams in one session.

Other than that nothing special to report, except that perhaps there should be better food service in university house rather than just vending machines.

Headcount around 7.30pm: 47 (17 ground, 30 1st floor)

LG 6.15–10.00

A really quiet shift today, and no one turned up to my session and I even did an announcement!! Did a bit of tidying and some shelving, and just some basic monitoring! No a lot to report on.

BMG 2–5

Todays shift started off with a lot of confusion, eventually I ended up in the bio med grid. Not a lot has happened here, helped someone with the photocopier, and advised some students about how to contact Samantha, I believe the main library resource for the bio-med grid.

Today I worked from 1.45 starting in the LG and finished today at 5pm.
