2012_detector.jpg

Thought I better announce the West Midlands 2012 Construction Commitment Conference, as I just found out about this in a meeting with Advantage West Midlands (AWM) and the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence WMCCE.

This free event, at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on 6th December 2007, will allow you to learn more about the 2012 Construction Commitments, Common Minimum Standards and the 2007 CDM Regulations.

You will also hear about good practice and have an opportunity to interact with representatives from Constructing Excellence, Health and Safety Executive, Office of Government Commerce, the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), and your regional development agency (AWM).

As part of a national roadshow to raise awareness of the supply chain opportunities generated by the ODA's tier one contractors, similar events will also be held in the East Midlands, the South East, Northern Irelend, and Yorkshire & Humberside.

The event welcomes a growing audience of event specific visitors, alongside a more transient audience of general visitors to Trafalgar Square averaging around 3 000 people per performance.

This 12 month contract has the option to be renewed annually, for up to an additional 3 years, so this makes the total opportunity worth over £2m.

£500,000 contract for 2008 Beijing Olympic Torch Relay

Writing about web page http://www.ready-for-business.co.uk

2012_detector.jpg

OK this is more like the kind of opportunities you can expect from the 2012 Tender Detector - Its the London leg of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Torch Relay - Finale Event.

On Sunday 6th April 2008 the Torch Relay will follow a pre-determined route across London with a total of 80 torchbearers carrying the Olympic flame. Along the route a number of community events and media moments aimed at attracting the public to come out in large numbers and welcome the flame as it passes through the city.

Bidders are required to provide programming, delivery and on-site management of the Torch Relay finale event. Of course this is a one off event, but it is very significant for the start of the run-up to the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games.

London St Patrick's Day Festival | Tender for £350k

If organising the News Year's Eve event in London is too big, perhaps the St Patrick's Day Festival contract for £350,000 is more to your liking. Especially if you have experience in programming Irish and Celtic performers.

The St Patrick's Day Festival is a free entry event attracting combined audiences of 150,000 people throughout the day. The event features a varied programme of Irish themed cultural performances (comprising of popular and traditional music and dance) and visitor experiences.

This twelve month contract, has the option to be extended for an additional three years - so another good chance to build a track record for 2012 related events, not to mention trousering £1.4 million!

Can you organise London's New Year's Eve Event, for about £1.35m

Writing about web page http://www.ready-for-business.co.uk

2012_detector.jpg

Can you organise London's New Year's Eve Event, for about £1.35m ex-VAT? If so the Greater London Authority need to hear from you.

Occasionally our 2012 Tender Detector picks up business opportunities which are not directly linked to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. There are going to be a whole host of events between now and the end of the Games. These will of course need to be organised, which is a business opportunity in itself, but each event brings other requirements - supply of food and drink, catering, support staff, transport, logistics and deliveries, security etc.

London's New Year's Eve Event is one of the opportunities which requires an events organisation and management contract. Now £1.35m is pretty good, but if you do a good job, the contract can be extended for an additional 3 years - which makes a whopping £5,400,000. And a good track record here would put you in pole position for 2012 events.

The event consists of a 10-minute midnight fireworks display, which for the past 4-years has been staged using the London Eye as its focal point. However, given the popularity of the event, provision should be made in respect of audience welfare and viewing facilities at multiple sites in London (including Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square) for a period of up to 6-hours.

Bidders will need experience in large scale crowd management operations, for audiences in excess of 1,080,000 people - so even considering my pub management experience, I think this is a tad out of my league! Maybe one for Warwick Hospitality?

London 2012 Olympic Tenders | Waste Management Services

Writing about web page http://www.ready-for-business.co.uk

Today the ODA also called for:

.... expressions of interest for the procurement of an operator to provide a waste management service for the Olympic Park. The service will comprise detailed design, construction and ongoing maintenance of a waste management service for venues and locations within the Olympic Park boundary.

So currently on the Ready for Business site we have 10 live tenders running. In addition, 74 other Olympic tender notices have been published to date, which is pretty good considering we are still just under five years away from the big event. But just to get it in perspective, compare that to the rest of the tender notices we have managed here at WMCCM (www.wmccm.co.uk). It's a massive 40,000 a year!
