I'm backing Ken on this

Writing about web page http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4746016.stm

It's about time politicians stood up to journos instead of grovelling to them in the hope of reaching a larger audience.

Anyway these days more and more people are realising that they don't have to pay money to read ill-informed bigoted dribble – they can find plenty in the blogosphere.

By the same token newspaper owners are now sensing that they don't have to pay people to write long winded offensive tosh – there's plenty of people willing to supply it for free in the letters pages.

Canal perils

I met a man last night who had recently fallen into the Coventry canal. He was cycling along the towpath when a swan startled him, causing him to veer and knock his helmeted head on the side of a bridge. This caused him and his bicycle to career into the canal.

Luckily he was wearing special clothing – he had normal clothes at his workplace.

I've long thought that the canal towpaths in Coventry and Warwickshire were too narrow for proper cycle tracks.
