I'm currently putting final preparations in place for the Business Sense event that we're holding on 2 July. This event is shaping up to be really quite exciting. The speakers are fantastic, the research to form points of discussion is interesting on so many levels, the venue is great for hosting an event 'with a difference', and now I've also just had a great meeting about the catering too.
It's so easy when organising events (particularly ones where the guests aren't paying) just to put on the usual sandwich buffet. For this one though we're challenging the catering team to come up with food with a difference. We've set them the challenge of creating a gastronomic experience that really matches the fact that this event is different - quite literally food for thought.
The details have to be right. We need the right amount of sugar served when guests arrive at 3pm to kick them out of any afternoon lull, and the right ambience created around food service and evening menu and drinks to inspire creativity amongst our guests, and perhaps even act as a conversation-starter.
So the challenge is on, and I'm confident that at the Business Sense event we won't just be serving up food for thought in a metaphorical sense, but also in a literal one.
