KBAM– there is a lot job to do towards excellence management.

I really liked how one of the groups mentioned the way of excellence is reached in organizations. They explained that no always companies have to pay a large amount of money to improve their areas. For instance, let’s think of risk management in term of health and safety. According to my research, the majority of organizations create their policies in order to accomplish a legal commitment. However, companies should concern that by establishing a justified policy, several accidents could be minimized. How does it work? Well, whether the worker read carefully the policy before for starting any activities, where he/she will be have all the knowledge to perform it in the right track. Thus, workers will be more productive and essentially the whole procedure will go to obtain better results. This is how people call standard, but sometimes the experts workers do not mention the key things of how to work better or either how to avoid making mistakes. Hence, it’s vital to take worker’s knowledge for creating the policy and also inspire them of the importance to generate a robust policy. In essence, every single thing happening within the company must be written on the policy. However, unfortunately as some companies explain, the lack of time and commitments for people in revealing the information, make the policy be incomplete. So, there is the opportunity, for instance to aid companies in establishing a good health and safety policy in order to reduce the cost of paying potential accidents due to the lack of information.

KBAM– the other aim behind KBAM'S presentation.

After our presentations today, during the feedback I think that we heard how leaders could have been in order to make the team to perform much better. The perception over the discussion was the frustration of leaders to encourage each member to perform in the same higher level. In my opinion, if my understanding had been the highest of the situation, I will be willing to explain many times as necessary to bring each member in the same track. I really believe that everyone is capable to contribute the same amount. However the thing is to discover how to help them without missing the patient. As a Paul said, it might be leader’s engaged instead leader’s committed. Well, each person has different amount of passion, commitment and energy to work, this is why the result for any activity is different. Anyway one of the big aims behind this sort of exercise is to help us to improve our experience in dealing with people and bring us to think as the real life.

KBAM– the importance to have an establish health and safety policy

Based on the literature review made to create our mini proyect, we have realized in detail the importance of having an establish health and safety policy. Companies seek all the time to save cost in any activity. Thus, having a clear and updated health and safety policy aids with this commitment. Nowadays there are several organizations, which control the rate of ill health, non-fatal injuries and so on. Therefore, the big responsibility those companies have in reducing the risk of incidents and accidents by tending to involve workers in developing the policy according to their activities, and build their reputation of setting a robots health and safety policy. Certainly, whether the employees see how the company is looking after them by creating a strong policy, they will be willing to perform with strong commitment.

KBAM– question of having outsourcing in the real life.

After the seminar, I could clarify more my knowledge of outsourcing. However I have a doubt, which I forgot to ask. Before to say my question, I need to tell you guys what is the situation about. I saw twice in my former job, the resetting of old machines in order to keep using them. The process was heading for two people coming from United States. Of course, their experience was huge and the manufacture director did not want to get any risk, regardless the huge amount of money that it represents to the company. The thing was, nobody from the production team know how to deal with this task. But, the outsourcing people did all the process and nobody was around looking at. From my point of view, I would have decided to send one of my brilliants engineers for taking notes and get the knowledge from this particular activity. In fact, three machines would have been resetting as well, which means that for the next time, my engineer could have contributed more in doing this task quick and avoid paying more money for the working hours. It seems easy to say that, however did the outsourcing company allow me to put in charge my people? Well, It’s very likely that they could have told us; please we have to be on our own without any interruption. So, what do you think??? If the company is paying for this outsourcing, it implies to leave all the responsibility for this people or both company and outsourcing could have agreed at the beginning to add internal workers in order to obtain this knowledge?

KBAM– how habits during job time can cause mistakes?

During the section of situation awareness today, while we were watching the video I remembered one of my colleague from my former job. The reason was, because she needed all the time listening music whereas she works. Although she was good doing all the things, my boss always complained for her habit. Thus, I related this situation with the sort of the errors presented on the video, as a manager do we have to avoid this sort of habits from our members?? Well, I personally think that you need to respect the way of people feel more comfortable to do any task or activity. However, in this particular case, I would not know how to deal with it. The first thing that I will do, is to make my employee aware whether she/he make some mistake, the main explanation for this will be his/her habit. But, I cannot imagine myself sorting out a mistake because I allowed this sort of habits. What do you think guys??? How might you deal with this??

RDM– the wrong tool

Today after I assessed in-depth the tools that we used as a team to make our presentation, I was very concerned of how we went. In fact, we took several tools to justify our decisions (continue /discontinue the product), which were not necessary at all. At this time, we had a wrong understanding of how to make our decisions being robust. For instances, we used Growth share matrix in order to identify the position of our products into the market. However we did not have enough data to develop further this tool. Thus, we might have used another tool, which can give us directly the final decision, rather than spend time using this tool without certain elements.
