Cultivating an interest in radio, I created, produced and presented my own radio show last term. As my first attempt at radio presenting, I had alot to learn in a short space of time- including how to work to desk. After some swift training from Harrogate Hospital Radio, where I have been a guest on a couple of shows, and also read, edited and produced some pre-recorded short stories, I was let loose! The idea was an updated version of BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Disks, that was relevant to the students and staff on Warwick Campus, and also people in the local area who could hear the show. At the end of term, I discovered that I was nominated for several club awards, and put together this audio clip to give voters a chance to hear what I was doing. I won a silver award, for Best Newcomer of the Year to the station, and bronze awards for the stations Best Female Presenter, and for Best Speech Based Programming. Against people who have been doing radio a lot longer than me - I was really suprised and happy to discover how I'd done!
