Using Keywords to identify references with a common theme
If you want to be able to find lots of references which all have the same theme quickly and easily, you can add your own keywords to identify them.
For example, if you quickly want to be able to identify all the references that are to do with macroeconomics, you can type Macroeconomics in the Research Notes field in the Endnote Web record for individual references. When you want to find all the references to do with macroeconomics, simply type this into the Quick Search box in EndNote Web or into the Find Citation(s) box in the EndNote Web toolbar in Word.
The Research Notes field can also be used to add your own comments or notes on a particular reference.

Adding notes to your references
Using EndNote Web, it is possible to annotate any reference you have added. Occasionally, people ask whether they should use the Notes box or the Research Notes box.
To some extent, it doesn't actually matter. However, some databases use the Notes box to add additional information to the reference. For that reason, you might be better off using the Research Notes field - otherwise your annotations might get mixed up with annotations imported from a database.
