Importing references from Medline
If you want to add records from a Medline search into your EndNote Web account, there are two ways to do it:
Method 1.
- Do your search as normal.
- View and mark some of the references you would like to keep by ticking the boxes to the left of each reference.
- In the Results Manager box at the bottom of the screen, choose the Selected Results option.
- In the Results Manager select Direct Export as the Result Format.
- Click on the Save option.
- Select the Endnote option
- After a slight wait, you see a mesage saying that your references have been successfully exported to Endnote Web
- Login into your Endnote web account. The references you ahve just exported will be in the Unfiled group.
- Move the references into your preferred group.
Method 2.
Stage One: Saving the references in Medline

Do your search as normal.

View and mark some of the references you would like to keep by ticking the boxes to the left of each reference.

In the Results Manager box at the bottom of the page, choose the Selected Results option.
- In the Results Manager select Reprint/Medlars as the Result Format.
- Click on the Save option.
- Select Unix style line feeds and click Continue.
- Select Save file to disk and save the file as normal. Important: make sure you save it as a text (.txt) file.
Stage Two: Importing the references into EndNote Web
- Click on the Collect tab.
- Click on Import References.
- Click on the Browse button and find and select the file you have just saved.
- From the Filter drop-down menu, select Medline (OvidSP)
- Click the Import button.
