El Bosc de les Fades

Writing about web page http://www.museocerabcn.com/eng.htm#

El Bosc de les FadesI think i'm scared of themed bars!

Whilst browsing the internet looking for places to visit in Barcelona, I came across a bar called El bosc de las fades (the forest of the fairies).

I don't know whether I would have the courage to go here – it sounds like this may be where the crazy people go!

With this description – who can resist! The Sagrada Familia pails in comparison!

A dark, dimly lit, windowless place, where the windows have been replaced by weird, illusionary mirrors to either represent the mist beyond the trees or vertical, stagnant, silvery pools of mystery. Lanterns hanging from the branches, lanterns that resemble a dewdrop of radioactive snot, provide the internal light amongst the trees.
You can choose to sit on a toadstool or cross the little bridge across the grotto while the ambience is further enhanced by the background noise of forestry sounds, distant storms, insects and wild animals.

It also reminds me of the rather surreal Jekyll and Hyde Club in New York!

We're staying in a palace!

Follow-up to Barcelona… from For blog's sake

Finally booked a hotel for our holiday to Barcelona in July – Hotel Granvia

Located on tree–lined Gran Via, this ornate former 19th century palace is steps from Passeig de Gracia, four blocks from Las Ramblas, and six blocks from the Gothic Quarter.

It looks really beautiful in the photos, plus it was very reasonably priced. Worked out at about £25 a night each for three people sharing.

I am going with two of my cousins – one who lives in Leeds, the other in Jakarta, Indonesia so am very excited about spending some quality time with them as it has been a while!

Granvia

The hallway features a grandiose staircase, Andalusian arches, stained glass ceiling and chandeliers. The inviting terrace, with its terracotta tiling and dolphin fountain, provides a retreat from the bustle of the city.

Am getting excited now… just need to make a list of all the sights I want to visit!

Finally flung…

Painful rideOuch…my hips. Those fairground rides were painful…

Funny how in the photo you can clearly see the 'Warning' sign – I didn't notice that before I went on it!

Shame it doesn't say "Warning – When you wake up tomorrow you will have a massive big bruise on your hip and your shoulder".

YAY to Russell Brand!!

Writing about web page http://www.russellbrand.com/index.php

Russell BrandYay – rather excited…just booked tickets for me and eight friends to go and see the strangely attractive and slightly crazy Russell Brand at Warwick Arts Centre on 24th November. I know it’s a long time away but will just have to be patient!

I think he is great on Big Brothers Big Mouth so am curious to see what one of his stand-up gigs will be like!! Yay!

The Cuban Brothers

Writing about web page http://www.thecubanbrothers.com/x/default.html

I recently saw the completely hilarious, amazing, multi–talented, crazy breakdancers/djs/performers – The Cuban Brothers.

They played the Factory Club at the Custard Factory in Birmingham on May 28th – Bank Holiday Sunday.

The Cuban Brothers

To hear some of their music and see a video of exactly what they do – visit their myspace site. It's worth it just for the video!

Jenny Wren

On Saturday, I was sat in the garden with my parents, when one of these baby wrens fell out of its nest and landed on the floor. It was too small to have flown the nest deliberately so we figured that it must have fallen out by accident.

Baby wrens

My dad rushed to the rescue, picked it up and tried to put it back in the nest. Obviously it would have been a bit of a task to actually get it back in the hole with so many other little heads sticking out – hence why it is just sat on the edge of the box.

We then had to put up a 'safety net' in case it fell out again.

Stupid birds!

Barcelona…

Yay! Got a trip Barcelona booked for the end of July for seven nights.

Barcelona

I haven't been before so suggestions of where to visit and nice (cheapish) hotels to stay at would be appreciated from those who have been…
