I'm having a break…

Arghhh, 725 words…. is this ever going to end?? I have kinda made a plan thingy now though, that's something i suppose. I've finished an entire block of chocolate, don't have any sweets left, Amy's dinner smells gorgeous… just having a little listen to some of my favourite TUNES to make me feel better (if only it was that easy!!). Have obviously been wasting as much time as possible faffing around on the blogs, and am very intrigued… i have discovered that i am on 6 people's favourites… ok, not many i know, but i can't work out who the sixth person is…. Laura, Chris, Siggy, Simon, and Lorna… that makes 5 i'm aware of… so mystery person who are you??

  1. 725 words isn't that bad… Am currently pulling a design late-nighter in the engineering computer labs and making less progress than you! It'll be fine :-)

  2. It's 885 now!! Thanks for the encouragement, i'm sure you will be fine too, keep me updated with your progress… we can get through this! Good luck :-)

  3. Little progress update for everyone – 1,011 words. That means dinner time, woo hoo!

  4. Currently I have spent the best part of 2 hours cursing and swearing at Solidwork's crap design drawing standard formats, inability to produce drawings to BS or ISO standards, awful architecture for creating custom templates etc and have produced… One drawing. But a picture is worth a thousand words I suppose so I'm just about keeping pace with you :-)

  5. I think your on my favourites too :) good luck with the essaying :)

  6. A-ha, mystery solved!! Thanks Eleanor, i was a tad confused! Hope your essay is all sorted by now… i've just accidently had an hour and a half break, and have completely lost it now… bollocks. I really don't help myself!

Oh dear Siggy, that doesn't sound like fun, hope you're still making good progress, i'm going to have to speed up a bit now to catch up with all that time i've just lost!

  7. Progress is slower than a vicar on a bicycle but am making slow progress nonetheless… I think!

    22 Nov 2005, 22:31

  8. Lol :-) thanks for making me laugh! Bless you, i hope it speeds up for both of us (my current word count is 1,125) xxx

    22 Nov 2005, 22:35

  9. Ok Amy and I don't get it but Em is crying she is laughing so hard!? :-S

    22 Nov 2005, 22:39

  10. Glad I could add some merriment… Work is beginning to gather pace a bit now, mainly I think because I want to get to bed at some point as I have to be in early to print this out before the meeting at 10 :-S

    22 Nov 2005, 23:04

  11. Good luck Siggy; is it the whole car you're designing tonight? ;-)

    22 Nov 2005, 23:34

  12. Merriment indeed! Glad your vicar is speeding up… unfortunately mine isn't so good, current word count at 1,295 – still need to push another thousand out. I agree, it would be nice to go to bed at some point tonight, i've got to leave the house just before 10, have a feeling it's going to be one of those walking round like a zombie days. Never mind. All housemates have now gone to bed, so blogging is my only distraction… is nice to know other people are still up though! Amy and Laura have both just accused me of being lazy and obsessed with the blogs. I'm quite offended by the whole thing, i just can't see what the problem is!

    22 Nov 2005, 23:38

  13. Oi Simon, how rude, this is my blog, why aren't you wishing me luck??

    22 Nov 2005, 23:39

  14. Bed already? It's not even midnight! Nah Si I'm just making a decent start on the uprights tonight, chassis and hubs tomorrow and then refinement for the next week!

    22 Nov 2005, 23:42

  15. Yeh, all 3 of them are in bed already, it's disgusting isn't it?? (admittedly Amy is reading, but still!)

    22 Nov 2005, 23:47

  16. Exceptionally! Well I've spent since 8:45 getting something that resembles an upright designed, finally managed to pare it down to 2.5 kilos. At least another kilo to come off yet I hope, then lots of finite element analysis and such to make sure it doesn't break… Can you tell how much I'm looking forward to it! Anyway, I've got some pictures to show for my work so I am off home from the labs now I think… Good luck with your 1,000 remaining words (or draw a picture! ;-) )

  17. Hmmm I could have sworn I posted here when I left F211 10 minutes ago! Never mind… I've finally gotten something together which looks passable as a starting point so I'm going to head off to bed too soon (but I have excuses – I've been up working all day and have missed out on loads of sleep etc and really can't afford another 4 hours of sleep night right now). Good luck with the remaining words!

  18. Weird… Just now when I posted that I couldn't see comment #16. Either that or I have lost my sanity!

    23 Nov 2005, 00:25

  19. I think i've lost my sanity too… must be all the hard work we're doing!! I don't know what happened there, perhaps my blog was protesting at being checked so regularly, but it wasn't displaying your comments to start with. Oh well, looks like it's caught up now! Congratulations on your hard work, it sounds very impressive. I suppose i can allow you to go to bed then, you have your reasons!! Word count is now 1,468 so i can get away with doing about another 800 words plus footnotes etc… oh joy! Don't encourage me with drawing pictures, that's how i get through my lectures!! Thanks for the luck anyway… sleep well, see you soon.

    23 Nov 2005, 00:31

  20. Sorry Em! Obviously I didn't wish you luck because, er, you don't need it? :-)

Sig, blog a pic of it at some point – I'm interested! (Or send via MSN, either way). Don't worry, I'm confident it's an improvement on the "interesting" cantilever-steering-arm-block arrangement we churned out last year. Think you're wise to consider bed now anyway.

    Good luck Em!

    23 Nov 2005, 00:34

  21. Hehe, apology accepted, thank you :-) i like your excuse!
