Ok, so in a fit of madness i’ve just joined Facebook… i don’t really know what came over me. I was checking my emails and i had a message from Andrew (a friend from school) who was inviting me to join cos he’s obviously just signed up. So with Chris not around to chat to this evening, i thought ‘let’s have a look’. So feel free to find me and add me to friends or whatever you do on facebook?? I haven’t done much as yet, obviously, and Christ knows when i’m going to get it properly set up or keep it maintained, but there you go. I’ve already got a problem though, haha! I can’t see how i can join the Warwick uni network, or Warwick alumni or whatever i’m supposed to be able to join, cos i obviously no longer have a warwick email address. So at the mo my only network is West Midlands, and i’m not happy. Any suggestions??

  1. I’m not in a network either, which makes it much harder to be found.

I’ve added you, as I feel nice at the moment.

it’s in My Account, Networks – you’ll need to use your warwick email address to join

  3. Oh…..I keep thinking about properly joining facebook/stalkerbook because I keep having a nose on there, and everyone was talking about it every second of the day on campus.

Not sure I can resist the temptation anymore-lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Happy Facebooking X

  4. Hehe, thanks Luke, you’re officially my first Facebook friend :-)

Max – you seem to have missed my reason for asking how i can join the Warwick network – seeing as i no longer have a warwick email address, i was hoping there would be another way of joining it…?? That surely can’t be the only way!

Amy – hey gorgeous lady, thanks for your email, i shall reply soon! Go on then hun, join too, we can lose our Facebook virginity together ;-) Love you, xxx

  5. get a current undergrad to receive the email and register for you

  6. Hmm, that could work, but only with someone who’s not already on Facebook or interested in joining, presumably… it just seems so stupid!

  7. I think you can get a warwick email if you join the WGA. There are probably other benefits as well that may or may not justify the expense.

I think you can get a warwick email if you join the WGA.

As far as I’m aware, this isn’t true. You get to keep your blog by joining the WGA, but other than that there’s nothing that links with Warwick’s IT systems.

  9. You can use some else’s email address – we all have two email addresses at warwick, one is and the other uses Joe Bloggs’s six letter user code (e.g. mxudxx) to make another email address at

I’ve used my letter one to let a graduate friend onto the Warwick network but I’m sure other people can help :)

I don’t think it’s that important to be part of a particular network; it does give you the ability to see some stuff, eg if people allow photo albums to be viewed within their network, but generally you only want to see your friends’ photos, and you can add anybody in the world as a friend, as long as they agree.

  11. I reckon this is the best Warwick Blogs post ever. Thanks.

  12. If you can’t find anyone, I volunteer.

  13. Richard – i am a member of the WGA, hence me still having a blog… and i don’t believe i can still have an email address too, i think Matt is right

Holly, using the other email address is a good idea, thanks, hadn’t thought about the two addresses thing

Nick, i know it’s not strictly necessary, but i’m getting pissed off that everyone else is in the network, and i think it looks silly that i can’t join up… i just want to be part of it, goddammit!

    Vincent – gee thanks

Nathaniel – wow, really?? I’ll love you forever (don’t tell Chris!). Honestly, if you wouldn’t mind, that would be fantastic

  14. Yeah I think its safe. I really doubt Chris reads your blog. I’ll email soon.
