final follow up of note taking

Follow-up to 2nd follow up of note taking from Elliot's blog

  • Review notes within 24 hrs of taking them

this whilst seeming simply does help to re-enforce the information from the lecture whilst also lets me correct any mistkes i made while it is still fresh and thus prevents having a mistake and look over it later and then not understanding what it was meant to mean - happens far to often with my dyslexia

very similar to that written above, re-enfores information rather than it coming in and out before you even know about it. on top of this makes life so much easier than trying to work out a typo later down the line. in a nutshell: simple but effective.

  • Read lecture power points ahead of lectures for note taking will be easier

similar to last time i am still finding this useful for obvious reasons as it keeps you ahead that little bit so the lectures arent completely new information and thus are easier to follow

forgot to do this on a few occasions and it emphasised its usefulness as you've pre read the slides you can focus much more on what the speaker is actually saying rather than reading and listening as this is rarely successful

i have also found:

  • Skim articles before close reading if i have a lot to go through

once again i have found this section very useful when it comes to researching for my essays, even more so when you have tight deadlines such as last term and coming up this term where i have 3 essays all due on the same day.

haven't had any essays since so hasn't been as effective in an obvious way, however i am going to astart my 3 essays all due on the same day in the week coming so im sure this will once again be a useful tactic
