Proposed restrictions on public photography
Hey all,
For those of you who are into photography (and those who aren’t) – please check this out. The UK government (presumably in an attempt to stir up more paranoia about its latest bugbears, paedophilia and terrorism) is planning to impose restrictions on photography in public places. If you want to oppose these planned restrictions, please go and sign this petition here before George Orwell’s predictions really do come true…
Leighton Joskey
It’s not quite what it seems.
There is no specific legislation approaching that will impact our rights to take photos.
Rather the author has had or been made aware of a variety of happenings that give him cause for concern.
This is his web page – http://www.phooto.co.uk/rights.shtml
I personally think it is a bit over the top and the petition is very badly worded. While it is true that many people misunderstand people’s rights to photo things in public places, they need to be educated in a rational manner.
While we’re on the subject here is a link to an interesting take on your rights as a photographer – http://www.sirimo.co.uk/ukpr.php

Leighton – cheers for this, I’ve been hoping to get a bit more information on it!
