Yesterday, I parked my car at car park 8, paid for 4 hours (£1.50) and rushed to my first class of this term.
Lost track of time, and came back to find a parking ticket stuck on my window. This is the first time since I started studying here at Warwick. £70 for being one hour late. However, I get a discount if I pay within 14 days (only £35) for being one hour late.....
Really spoiled my day.
Has anyone had a "Civil Penalty" stuck on your window by a "Civil Enforcement Officer" in the campus?

Today morning I spent nearly half an hour trying to find parking until I finally got one in Parking 15.
I am not annoyed that I had to pay £1.50 but the fact that going around the car parks near my office, I found out that several selfish people had improperly parked and were taking 2 parking spaces. Some were parked right on top of the lines.
I am aware that the parking spaces are small and that we are all wary of getting scratches on our car doors but I can still manage to park with my not so small Volvo. If you don't know how to park properly, you should not be driving a car. Or I suggest you take some extra driving lessons - not to learn how to drive but rather how to park.

The University has come alive again. Though some people forget it, it is the students and more specifically the Undergraduate students that literally makes the University.
However, more students mean more cars and ultimately less parking space available. I sometimes have to go round a few times around various parks trying to find an empty parking space. I was lucky that I was able to get free parking today morning (the first since the new term started). The trick is to come VERY early in the morning. Something really tough for people like us who have kids and live outside the campus.
The authorities have also increased the parking rates fom £1 for 4 hours to £1.10. That's a 10% increase.
However, on the bright side it's still considered cheap as compared to other Universities.
Last week I had a meeting with my supervisor and after ebing unsucessfull in finding an empty parking spot, parked at the short stay parking at park 4a. However, I was 30 minutes late and apparently I had to pay £20 to get out. Fortunately the kind lady at Security waived the fine. Thanks.
