Finally Flung

I sit here at my desk pondering whether to go to the Final Fling. The Zutons are going to be there and they wrote this song:

Remember Me

Well we used to be the best of friends
And we used to hang around
Now I always see you and your new girlfriend
On the sunny side of town
Oh your body is the same and your face ain't changed
But your mind ain't where that's at
You're too busy hugging and a-kissing now
And for you that can't be bad

But I've made a deal with the clouds
Gonna turn that sun into rain
So you forget about your love
Come and see me again

Oh remember me I'm your best friend
And we don't talk no more
So if you're in the neighbourhood
Don't forget to knock on my door

Cause I've got to keep the feeling, keep the feeling in
Gotta keep the feeling, keep the feeling in
Gotta keep the feeling, keep the feeling in
Gotta keep the feeling, keep the feeling in

Now I stand upon your path
And I'm shouting up to you
Won't you come and give me a minute now
There's a message here for you

Me and a couple of old school friends
We're going out to drink
You can come along but leave your girl at home
It'll give you time to think

But you called at the last minute
Said that you were staying in
Well this is not a joke old friend
I'm a-getting sick of this

Oh remember me when she leaves you
And you come and knock on my door
Well I can nurse your broken heart
Cause that's what friends are for

Cause I've got to keep the feeling, keep the feeling in
Gotta keep the feeling, keep the feeling in
Gotta keep the feeling, keep the feeling in
Gotta keep the feeling, keep the feeling in

Seems to resonate with times in my life when I have been on either side of the divide, either in the happy couple and neglecting ones friends, or watching a friend vanishing into a happy couple. Which therefore speaks in favour of going to the Final Fling.

Goldie Looking Chain don't resonate with me on any level at all, they're not cheesy enough, funny enough, ironic enough or good enough to please me in any way. I'm hoping for some kind of awesome stage craft or crowd interaction to make them worth it.

The other people are something like a samba band which sounds promising. Positive things.

I'm quite poor being at the end of my degree and having barely worked for cash during my time here. Not so good, I could probably afford it. Just. However money takes on a kind of magical power when there is not much of it around and each tiny penny takes on a mystical new value. I would really like to be ensured in advance that I'm going to have £38 pounds of fun.

Had an interesting day yesterday. Once again I missed completely the blog social due to a plethora of Bowies and some lovely barbeque cooking. I went to Crash afterward and saw lots of people I hadn't seen for a while. Then I rocked along to Replica X, got tired and hungry and went to Tesco for cookies.

  3. well i'd just assumed that his imaginary friends went everywhere with him so he'd at least have them (and they'd get in free)

  5. I bought a ticket in the end. However I did it while drunk so I'm not sure if that counts.
