Writing about an entry you don't have permission to view
Alas it seems the community spirit of the early blog days lies in tatters. The pressure of exam frustration is boiling over into the virtual realm and the inevitable confusions of internet communication are causing simple banter to spill over into bloodshed.
It seems like I've seen this all too many times, pretty soon someone is going to call someone else a facist or a Nazi and all hell breaks loose. I have my thoughts and opinions but they shouldn't be conflated with those of others, for they are my own. I want people to have more confidence to be themselves, yes, as this stems from my own personal experience of being very unconfident for years and years, just letting things pass me by. I don't, however, want to legislate your taste.
My own personal passion is for making computer games, something for which I've faced a lot of derision and dismissal in the past. For a long time they had me convinced that I was probably just wasting my time and that making games wasn't something that serious, cool people did.
Well it is.
The only people I have anything against are people who try to dismiss and de-legitimize my means of expression, people who don't respect it, these people I don't like.
And yet I can also laugh along with it all, I know people will say I'm a geek and a nerd. Catch me in the wrong mood and I may just hit you with an essay on why games are a multi-million pound industry still in its infancy and yet on the verge of launching a cultural revolution. Mostly I'll just agree and laugh at myself along with you.
It may be war, but I come in peace with a cheeky grin.
