module finished but leadership is continue forever…

Surelly I can say that if we had one more Leadership Excellence week , we would open our eyes in the middle of the wild forest or a boat in the ocean for develop the our leadership skills in live life :) but actually we have not been ocean or forest last week but we lived and felt and these excercises have provided many aspect to us.but unfortunetelly we have not got a one more week and the most enjoyable module has finished quickly...

first of all, I believe that Leadership starts within us.people should manage themselves than they can lead the others but if we cant lead themselves , how can we manage organizations? Moreover to see big picture and  stress management are the others importatn ideas and after understanding the situation leader should think how can lead people effiicently..right things shuld be do,how to solve problems?

secondly,I have thought about balanced scordcard and EFQM and how can we adapt BSC for EFQM? I have red and briefly I could say that both of EFQM and BSC have parameters of target and comparison and the result of BSC is same with the target of EFQM.

thirdly I would like to give examples Urban terrorist and Leader from LOST which is a popular series in the world.. ,I think the character of  Dr Jack is a Leader and Sawyer's character is an urban terrorist :))

lastly leadership module finished but to lead is on going forever even if you lead the just one 'yourself'

Life is one big module…

I have been the most enjoyable studies in my life...it is called leadership.everyone has a chance to lead and it is really usefull experience for our life for instance I was one of the leader in the class yesterday and I try to manage my team and I have started to thinking about defination of leadership. It does not mean leader is the central of the team and forever talking :) leader is a person who does not know everything sometimes. the other important things as Paul says ''we have 2 ears and a mouth therefore listening is more important and helpful than talking.. I think If leader knows the human psychology,they can motivated the people shortly because sometimes we can be meet some chaos in the work everyone wants to solve problem but effective work is more important than to work much and leader have to balance.

We divided workers into four groups;first one is STARS who have big power.these kind of people like their job,they enjoy and and when they meet some problem.firstly they embraced like a own problem hence they are really effective and helpfull people for leaders.second type is FANS.Althought they have a positive attitude,negatif level energy.third one is URBAN TERRORIST who are energitic but negatif attitude.all time they say ''dont agree with you'' , ''It is wrong'' importatn point is HOW CAN LEADERS MANAGE THIS KIND OF PEOPLE? Actually I have thought for last 20 hours :) but I havent found yet.. any way the last type of worker is WALKING DEAD.they dont creating much and this kind of people should remove because obviously they are not happy and every workforce add the value for company otherwise we cant ensure continuous improvement and we everytime we lost time and money..

Afternoon we are talking about 'corporate social responsibility' and question is ''Are you believe CSR? '' to be honest I cant believe because when I was at University of Sussex I researched the CO2 emission in the word and result is threat to people.majority of company dont care about the co2 emissions and the rate of global warming has risen day by day therefore I dont believe.

KRAFT AND CADBURY

KRAFT and CADBURY ,the huge company of the USA and the biggest brand of the UK , As you know, Kraft takeover to cadbury therefore staffs of cadbury are really angry because they think about not only their national symbol but also their own employment.they dont know whether they would not continue to work.

In this case,Kraft is a new leader position. THey are absolutelly as foreign as me :)  they need to know market,customer,company information, treat of cadbury and briefly everything about cadbury but all cadbury experience cant be learned easily of course they need time and need to learn knowledge from employees of cadbury. leader is changed but team is the same still. it looks like an our hotel excersise on tuesday suddenly all leaders was changed and team member met the new leaders. when new leader joined to our team firstly he tried to understand the latest state of the hotel and every team members helped him.because his behaviours are really friendly he looked like enjoy and fortunetelly he did not take foolish decisions therefore we were continue to made much more profits .. much more profits because at that time our team was more experienced,knew the subject better. team members tried to explain last state of hotel and we gave some financial information. If we think about Kraft cadbury relationship,firstly Kraft should learn many things about cadbury they cant change culture of company sudenly otherwise they would loss the market share and everything.Kraft have to work with same staff and they should not loss workers. I think The only thing that has changed shareholders.

to sum up ,leaders are important but also team cordinasyon is vitally  at that time The success of the team leader will arise in the adaptation speed.

swot analysis

SWOT

we made SWOT analysis than we tried to choose correct strategy for boat company. SWOT analysis is quite usefull in terms of company's situation it provides information that is helpful in matching the firm's resources and capabilities to the competitive environment in which it operates. SWOT is a scan of the internal and external environment is an important part of the strategic planning process. environmental factors internal to the firm usually can be classified as STRENGTHS or WEAKNESSES and those external to the firm can be classified as OPPORTUNITIES or THREATS. A firm's strengths are its resources and capabilities such as; patents,good  reputation among customers,strong brand names,suitable access to distribution networks,exclusive access to high grade natural resources.on the other hand the company's weaknesses is the absence of certain strengths may be views as a weakness.for instance; lack of patent protection, a weak brand name.poor reputation among customers,high cost structure,lack of access to the best natural resources,lack of access to key distribution channels. Changes in the externalenvironmental may reveal certain new opportunities for profit and growth.some opportunities such as ; an unfulfilled customer need,arrival of new technologies,loosening of regulations, removal of international trade barriers so on. Threats mean is changes in the external environmental also may present threats to the firm.for instance; shifts in consumer tastes away from the firm's products,emergence of substitude products,new regulations,increased trade barriers. We can use the SWOT, the development of a plan or solution of the problem in order or status of an institution's strenghths by identifiying them can match the most appropriate opportunities,weak and threatening aspects aimed at reducing systematic planning tool.

leader and manager

after first LE class, we saw that different expectation and different defination affect the meaning of leader. I am really thinking about pozition power and personel power. whereas pozition power involves managing; personal power involves leading. what is the difference between manager and leader? first of all I can say that leadership and management are two ideas that are often used identically.these words actually give two different concepts.the main aim of a manager is to maximise the output of the organisation through administrative implementation.to achieve this,managers must undertake the functions.such as;organisation,planning,staffing,directing,controlling,so on.Leadership is just one important component of the directing function.A manager can not just be a leader,he also needs formal authority to be effective.In some circumstances,leadership is not required.for instance,self motivated groups not require a single leader and may find leader dominatiing.the fact that a leader is not always required proves that leadership is just an asset and is not essential. Accýrding to Richard Pascale,managers do things right,while leaders do the right things.this means that managers do things by the bookfollow the company policy,while leaders follow their own intuition,which may in turn be of more benefit to the company because leaders think radically,whereas managers think incremantally.A manager is focus on work,whereas a leader focus on people.managers are paid to get things done,often within tight constraints of time and money.they thus naturally pass on this work focus to their subordinates.although many leaders have a charismatic style to some extent,this does not require a loud personality.they are always good with people,and quiet styles that give credit to others are very effective at creating the loyalty that great leaders engender.therefore groups are more loyal to a leader than a manager.this loyalty is created by the leader taking responsibility in areas such as taking the blame when things go wrong,celebrating group achievements,even minor ones and giving credit where it is due. moreover, a leader is someone who people naturally follow through their own choice,whereas a manager must be obeyed.a manager may only have obtained his position of authority through time and loyalty given to the company,not as a result of his leader qualities.a leader may have no organisational skills,but hiis vision unites people behind him.furthermore,management usually consists of people who are experienced in their field,and who have worked their way up the company.a manager knows how each layer of the system works and may also possess a good technical knowledge.a leader can be a new arrival to a company who has bold,fresh,new ideas but might not have experience or wisdom.

to sum up,managing and leading are two different ways of organising people.the manager uses a formal,rational method whilst the leader uses passion and stirs emotion.

On Friday we had a presentation.Banu and I tried to presented excellence models and comparison of these..Althought well prepared I forgot to explain some point because of EXCITEMENT J

And now I want tos share with you…

As we know that Deming philosophy based on TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT and At the core of this philosophy, you can find:

*To prevent errors, find and fix them later is easier, cheaper, and is secure.

*If we want to get more succesfull results, we should heed every employee’s ideas.

*If group work well managed,jobs develop more quickly.

* Customer preferences are really important for business success

* A quality management is possible with quality people.

*If everyone concentrate the same aim in the organization,people can to conclute in a short time.

Especially I am really interested in strategic total quality management which focus on customer and environment.The philosophy of strategic total quality management based on total quality management. Accordingly this philosophy QUALITY is not only products sold to customers and content services offered but also company is seen as a reflection of all performance. For example Mc Donald’s fast food chains, paper bags over their "please place at your own waste" expression are located.

While Strategic Quality Management give attention to customers’ requests to offer better and zero defective products at the same time to protect the environment.In this way,generating the best products for consumer and environmental health are protected in the best possible way.

Another example is Ford ‘ FOCUS’ model at the design stage and with consumer expectations surveys to determine the wishes of the customers in line with a model created in the production of both models by using waste materials to the environment has expressed his commitment.

efficently meeting

Today first seminar has bees  really effective. We manage the Turners Hotel. we have some problems and we try to solve these problems together. at the end of the meeting I have learned that how can we work efficiently?? and I intent to give  a brief outline of the this question. First of all,  the key things is T?ME MANAGEMENT actually it has emphasised by every meeting since I started to University of Warwick and today we have seen once again;time managment is really important.we have to control and use time effectively... then I start to thinking why efficently meeting is important? I think it is important because every team members have a chance to know eachother better.The second point is effectively meeting at the team strengthens the sense of unity moreover.everyone has a own knowledge and experience and everyone has a different perspectives so it help us to find the best and creactive solution.If I was a manager I would pay attention to some points for example; I try to determination of conference plan and I announce two days before the meeting otherwise workers to be unprepared. The other key things is everyone should focus on the meeting aim if not,we just waste time. Today before meeting Paul delivered some imformation ab?ut the hotel.I think this paper are usefull for each world,each conception evokes the same meaning for everyone.participants must be at the same frequency.the other key point is every meeting should targeted FUTURE.Whwn people come together they keen on talk about past activities and errors. of course we can talk about past experience but it shoul be short and clear otherwise meeting deviated from the main aim.It is usefull to talk about future risk and future opportunities.moreover,we should discuss proposals instead of people if not meeting rooms becomes courtrooms :) and In this case people come to meeting room gutlessly hence we can not produce efficiently,productive idea and proposals.Lastly,every meeting should be managed democratically so everyone has to talk and gives their ideas otherwise we can not find new idea and suggestion. 

also today we are talking about CAUSE and EFFECT DIAGRAM and SOLUTION EFFECT DIAGRAM and both of diagram tend to solution...
