Aha!

Follow-up to Colour Test? from The Rat's Nest (Post-Angst)

link

Whoo! A friend (Harlander) gave me that link. It described statements like the ones the test gives. Fascinating.

Cheers!

    Hi D,

Your diary makes for a fascinating and necessary distraction at lunchtimes here at work. I’m glad you’re enjoying the experience on the whole and don’t get hung up on the odd homesick feeling; this is normal. Bet even the most ‘hardy’, hall-dwellers have their moments too.

Reading this through is really taking me back to my first week at Leicester! I never once gave the showers 5 out of 5 (you’re lucky to get water – ahh, how times have changed in HE …) and didn’t make any friends, really, until the first few weeks. The first week or so is about who can make the loudest noise, and bonds are formed on the grounds of strength in numbers are much better than being a vulnerable individual. But by the 3rd week all of this completely changes. People calm down and start - ahhem - listening to others (and I was just as guilty as anyone else here) and then real friendships start to emerge. Nevertheless, I admire your tactics! Playing to your strengths by bribing people with PS2, now that’s what I call a shrewd operator.

Have fun. Oh, and if you’re thinking of taking any Cog Sci classes—let me know. I know the profs there and have some books you can have … (but don’t go telling all the pot noodle munchers).

    Mike
